Monumental Corruption in National Social Investment Programme Perpetuated By Mrs Maryam Uwais

Over the few months, we have observed with keen interest the activities going on at the National Social Investment Programme (NIPS) headed by Mrs Maryam Uwais, corrupt practices at NIPS are at it’s highest level. It is in this respect that the wife of the president her Excellency Mrs Aisha Buhari said that over N500Billion was spent without remarkable impact.

It is appalling that Mrs Uwais is sitting on such a collossal corruption and continues to thrive in evil on concealment while diverting public funds to selected family and friends. The SA to the president on SIP failed to account for the N500Billion budgetary allocations to the NSIP Mrs Maryam Uwais has turned the NSIP into a ceasspool of impunity, injustice and corruption.

Additionally, from the day she was appointed as SA, Mrs Uwais set out to promote personal interest high above National interest, thereby defeating the overall objective of social investment programme, Mrs Uwais has taken over absolute control of all projects under the NSIP platform, expecially the interventions from the world Bank.

Therefore, in an attempt to take absolute control of the NSIP, she has succeeded in sending away the former National coordinator of the National Social safety net NASSCO, Mr Peter papka because of his insistence on following the world Bank projects as they failed to meet up with their designated timelines for the payment of cash transfer to the targeted beneficiaries across the country.

In view of this above evidence, we are calling on Mr President, HE. President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR not to reappoint, Mrs Maryam Uwais as SA NSIP. Any attempt to reappoint her will defeat the overall objective of the SIP programme
