Gov. Zulum Approves N100m For Borno Workers’ Health Scheme

The Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum has approved counterparts funding of the sum of N100 million to the newly established Borno State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (BOSCHMA).

Governor Babagana Zulum announced the approval when the Executive Director, National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Dr. Faisal Shuiabu led other management of agency on a courtesy call at the Government House, Maiduguri on Wednesday.

Recalled that the Governor had last week through his Media Aide, Mallam Isa Gusau in a press statement said, a Bill for establishment of BOSCHMA sent to the State House of Assembly for passage into Law was hitherto approved, in which, a committee set up, and yet to be inaugurated would be headed by a retired Permanent Secretary, Mallam Sani Maidugu.

Zulum informed Dr. Faisal that despite security challenges, Borno state Government is committed to improving the quality of health care services, especially at the primary level, hence the quick implementation of the resolution reached at the Siato convention to bring Primary healthcare under one roof by the present administration.

Earlier in his remarks, The Executive Director, Borno State Primary Health Care Development Agency (BoSPHCDA), Dr. Sule Meleh, commended the unflinching support from the present administration and the NPHCDA in reviving the health system in the state.

He regretted that despite the setting up of a Roving Team by the Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole since September 2019, which was supported by the Agency to enable the military and health workers reach all unreached settlements/communities, there is the need to review it, as only 101 of 1663 unreached geolocations were reached by the team.

He further said, inspite of these efforts characterized by the security challenges, an estimated 34,210 Under Five (5) Children and other people/population who are in dare need of health care services still live within the unreached locations.

Also speaking the Ditector General of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA).Dr. Faisal commended Governor Zulum on his efforts in reconstruction and rehabilitation of destroyed and dilapidated Primary Healthcare Facilities across the state.

The DG said “even though you have been operating in a hostile environment amidst security challenges, you have done so much more to the people of the state, specifically on revamping the Primary Health Care.”,.

“Your Excellency, I was also being briefed on the progress that’s been made towards achieving Primary healthcare under one roof. Following our meeting in Seattle with the Nigerian Governor’s Forum, I can see how you have wasted no time in implementing all the Declarations made during the Seattle Conference.” Dr. Shuiabu said.

Gov. Buni Met MD FERMA Engaged on Road Maintenance

His Excellency, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, the executive Governor of Yobe state and the ruling all progressive Congress (Apc) Chairman caretaker Committee has today Friday 10/7/2020 met with the Managing Director of the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) Engr. Nurudeen Rafindadi.

Gov. Mai Mala Buni engaged the FERMA MD on maintenance of federal roads across the state.

Buni expressed the importance of road network to socio-economic development of the state and the country atlarge.

The governor expressed the ever ready commitment of his led  administration to open up more communities with more road network that links the state and federal highways to make transportation of goods and services easy to the common man in the society, as road is important to the development of every state and country as a whole.

The MD was very delighted and assured positive partnership between the agency and Yobe state government for good and safe roads across the state and federal highways.

In her efforts to bring sucour to the traumatized people of her constituency,. the Member Representing Bama, Ngala and Kalabalge Federal constituency at the National Assembly has distributed, vehicles. Sewing machines, water pumping machines, tricycles and cash to over 2010 members of her constituency devasted by the Boko Haram insurgency as livelihood support.

Flagging off the empowerment distribution at the Multi purpose Hall of the Government House. Maiduguri on Thursday, Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state said ” this is the largest intervention that any individual has ever distributed. I commend you Hon Gimba for supporting members of your constituencyy, Bama and Kalabslge are the most hit by the insurgency, I commend you for the livelihood programme which will greatly help in rejuvanating their livelihood ”

The governor urged the beneficiaries to put the items in good use, so that they will not only be self reliant but help others.

Speaking at the occasion, the member representing Bama. Ngala and Kalabalge federal constituency, Hon Zainab Gimba said ‘ “the empowerment projects is a continuation of the series of my empowerment programme. 118 beneficiaries are to get cars, 200 tricycles. 800 sewing machines , 500 grinding machines, 492 water pumping machines and cash.”

” you know most of the people of my constituency have lost everything as a result of Boko Haram insurgency, the 118 vehicles is to assist our transporters, the sewing machines to our tailors, the grinding machines to our mothers in the food and nutrition businesses while the water pumps to our farmers to revive their farming activities, while the cash of N1 million each to two members of constituency who lost their lives and have large families, N500,000 and N400,00 to another two members of my constituency who lost their lives and have lesser family, as well as N100,000 each to 72 late members of the constituency to support their families”

Hon Gimba said ” I have also trained over 200 youths in various skills. secured jobs to 13 graduates in my constituency, in addition to drilling of 18 boreholes through Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We are also working hard to support the Botno state government in the resettlement process by discussing with security agencies, military and other relevant bodies

She urged the beneficiaries to put in good use of the given to them and assured those that were not been able to benefit that they will soon get their own in the next programme, as the empowerment programme is a continuous one.

His Excellency, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, the executive Governor of Yobe state and the ruling all progressive Congress (Apc) Chairman caretaker committee has received with regret and sadness, the death of Hajja Fanna Ibn Ali Gangarang the Maira of Gujba and mother of His Royal Highness the Emir of Gujba Alhaji Mai Mukhtar lbn Ali Gangarang.

Governor Mai Mala Buni, described the death of the Maira as a huge loss to His Royal Highness, the family, Gujba emirate and the entire state.

He said late Maira was committed to humanitarian and community service and dedicated her life to the development of the emirate and state.

“Hajja Fanna would be missed for her rich advise, wise counselling and prayers” Governor Buni said.

His Excellency prayed almighty Allah to forgive her shortcomings and grant her eternal rest in Aljannatur Firdaus.

Governor Buni also prayed Allah to grant His Highness the Emir of Gujba Alhaji Mai Mukhtari Ibn Ali Gangarang, the Gujba emirate and the people of the state the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
