The theater Operation Lafiya Dole has designed and developed anti mines and anti ambush vehicles named Conqueror and Champion.I and II to effectively bring to an end Boko Haram insurgency in the Northeast.

Addressing newsmen at the headquarters of the theater command, the theater Commander Operation Lafiya Dole, Major General Olusegun Adeniyi said ” we designed and fabricate most of this things here in this theater.the only thing we bought outside was the head of the truck and we fabricate all other thing here”.

“The Conqueror it is an anti ambush and anti mines vehicle with the tyres protected. Where it will be difficult to shot it tyres. This will enable our troops hunt for the insurgents wheteever they are”, General Adeniyi said.

The theater commander further explained ” we also developed champion I and II which are also anti ambush for successful operation of our troops the vehicles we fabricated and constructed in this theater . The vehickes are thoses kind of vehicles ate ordered from US, UK and Russia and it take many months to arrived, this is when they even agreed to sell it to you”.

” I want to tell you authoritatively that since we adopted the Concept of Super camps, thst Boko Haram have never attacked our formations without us dealing with them seriously. The Super camp concept is yielding the desired result”, General Adeniyi further stressed.

The Borno state Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum has appealed to the Federal Government to allowed Para military personnel. deployed to the Northeast to handled Anti Aircraft Guns and other sophisticated weapons to fight Boko Haram.

Governor Zulum who made the appeal when members of House Committee on Defense paid him a courtesy call at the Government House, Maiduguri on Wednesday said ” when I was in Niger Republic, I saw Nigerian police carrying Anti Aircraft guns . I call on the Federal Government to allow para military personnel in the Northeast to carry A A sophisticated weapons for sometime. “.

” I also call on the Federal government to recruit about 100,000 soldiers to address manpower deficits, in Borno state we have over 50,000 able youths, that can be recruited on ad hoc basis and they can be disengaged after the insurgency, as it was done during the Civil war”, he added.

He said “the military should take the war to the fringes of Lake Chad (Tumbus) and Sambiza . We know the hudesout of the insurgents. The military knows, the theater Commanders knows. I am ready to say the truth. We all know, the military should take the war to the Boko Haram”.

Governor Zulum said ” the military has done well in 2015 when President Buhari assumed office uptil 2019 but from Mach 2019 to date we expireinced horofic and continues attack on daily basis. I therefore appeal to the Federal government and the military to revisit the strategy they adopted in 2015″.

He thanked the House committee on Defense for their condolence over the recent Auno attacked and for their facts finding visit to the state with a view to finding a lasting solution to the ongoing fight against insurgency in the Northeast.

Earlier speaking, the chairman House Committee on Defense. Hon Babajimi Benson said ” we are here to condole you over the recent Boko Haram attack on Auno, we are also here on facts finding and oversight function with a view to find the chslleges of the military in the counter insurgency fight with a view to addressing them.

” we are here to meet with the military, Borno state government and other stakeholders with a view to profer solution, on the best way to ending the insurgency in the Northeast.

While at the Operation Lafiya Dole theater commander, Hon. Benson said “we are here to see you, know your challenges and how we can make Borno, home of emerging peace to regain it name as Home of Peace and the whole Northeast.”.

The theater Commander, Major General Olusegun Adeniyi while briefing the House Committee said “I want to thank you for your zeal and quest to finnd a better ways to assist the military in ending the insurgency.

President Muhammadu Buhari has on Wednesday visited Maiduguri, the Botno state capital to sympathized and comusorate with the government and people of Borno state over the last Sunday Boko Haram attack in Auno where over 30 persons were killed, 18 vehicles destroyed.

The President who was coming from Addis Ababa, Ethiophia landed at the Maiduguri Air force base at exactly 1;05pm, where he proceeded straight to the Shehu’s palace.

Speaking at the Shehu of Borno Palace in Maiduguri on Wednesday, President Muhammadu Buhari said ” in speecch of the governor I heard him encouraging the military to  restrategize that could not be done without the cooperation of the local population. Boko Haram or whatever they call themselves to Maiduguri without local leadership know… Traditional local leadership are in charge of security in other  respective localities. ”

* With my understanding of our cultute I wonder how Boko Haram survive up to this time. As a commander in chief during my 2015 and 2019, I campaigned on 3 fundemental issues you cannot preciide over unsecured nation”, he added.

He further said Boko Haram cannot be curtailed without good intelligence sharing by the civil populace, adding that the traditional leaders play a great role in the success of military operation and strategy.

“I am already 70 years old and how many years do I have in a normal circumstance,” he said even as he promised to deal with the security”, the president added.

He said government cannot deliver good governance without security. “We need to stabilize this country,” he said. He urged the youths not to support anyone planning to destabilise the country.
That is why we are asking our youths not to allow themselves to be used.

Earlier speaking the Borno State governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum while welcoming the president urged the Federal Government to open vista of opportunities for people affected by insurgency in the state to have assess to their farmlands.

“We want the military to foster greater unity between themselves and civil authority with a view to closing existing transparency between the military and the civil authority on ground.

President Buhari has shelved plan visit to Auno, the scene of Sunday night massacre by Boko Haram in Borno State.

Buhari who was expected by the residents of Maiduguri to visit the scene if the attack in Auno town, along Maiduguri-Damaturu highway at the outskirts of Maiduguri, the state capital, rather paid a condolence visit to the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Garbai El-Kanemi and the state governor.

Boko Haram attacked trapped motorists killed 30 people, abducted several others, 18 vehicles burnt down

Over 30 persons were killed, three vehicles loaded with passengers were snatched and taken to the bush, while 18 .vehicles were burnt down when members of Boko Haram insurgent attacked vehicles at the Auno checkpoint at the outskirts of Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.

The vehicles were trapped at the Auno checkpoint when the military has officially closed the Maiduguri- Damaturu road and where forced to spend the night in Auno but were attacked by the insurgents.

Reacting on the incident the  Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno state who visited the scene of the attacked said ” I was told that over 30 people were killed,3 vehicles loaded with passengers    were snatched, “.

” We got intelligence report from the DSS at about 3:00om that Auno will be attacked by Boko Haran . the military has withdrawn from Auno. We appealed the military to establish unit in Auno but once it is 5:00p the military will close the gate and go back to Maiduguri and left people at the gate. If Auno cannot be protected then Maiduguri too is not protected, what is Auno and Maiduguri”, Governor Zulum argued

He said ” I called on the general public to be law abiding and not to take law into their hands, the government of President Buhari and the Borno state government will do anything’ possible to secured the lives and property of the people.”

Responding, the theater commander Operation Lafiya Dole, Major General Olusegun Adrniyi said “Boko Haram attacked transporters vehicles and Commuters in Auno I heard some media reports saying that over 30 people were killed. This false and not true. yesterday we recovered 3 corpses and today we also recovered 7 corpses Insurgents did not attacked the vehicles when during the normal time of movement, They were attacked in the night during the official closure time.”

” in the night our troops always went on operations, they go after Boko. Haram .they cannot leave the operation and come to protect vehicles that are on the road at the time they are not ought to be. I am calling on the general puluc to always leave Damaturu by 3:00pm so that they will arrived on time and for the truck to leave by 12:00 noon”, he added.

Boko Haram attacked Auno they came with motorcycles and parked in Auno and attacked vehicles of transporters and commuters in Auno. You know the road is usually closed by 5:00pm you see many vehicles parked at the checkpoint in Auno, Jakana, Minok, Ngamdu, Benesheik and Kukareta where usually trapped on the road raising them to risk of attack”

“I call on the general public to always abide by the law and leave and embark in the journey early , so that they will not be trapped on the road”, he added.
