Operation Lafiya Dole arrests 8 suspected Boko Haram, ISWAP logistic suppliers, destroys 6 vehicles loaded with logistics

The Operation Lafiya Dole theater Command has arrested 8 suspected Boko Haram insurgents and ISWAP, logistuc suppliers and destroyed 6 vehicles belonging to them loaded with food and assorted provision in its efforts to block all its logistic chain.
Briefing newsmen shortly before the destruction along Gubio Road Maiduguri yesterday,, the Acting General Officer Commanding 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Abdul Ibrahim.said “the vehicles we are going to destroy today were intetcepted base on intelligence reports. We had an information that some unpatriotic element supplied food and non food items from the hinterland and take it’s to the Boko Haram, ISWAP” in the bushes.”
General Ibrahim who is also the commander sector 1 of the Operation Lafiya Dole said ” we cary out diligent nvestigations before we carry out the destruction, it may be nteresting to know that some of the suspects were arrested before and in the cause of investigation we released them but you can see that we rearrested them again. We do dilegent investagions, if not you can see vehicles moving on the road, we would have arrested them and say they are insurgents logistic supplies.
“So we do thorough investigations before their vehicles are destroyed to serve as deterant to those still engage in this illicit bussines of logistic suppliers to the Boko Haram Investigation is still on going and they be soon charged to court,, the GOC stated.
” We have been warning the general public through jingles and press releases of the danger of this illicit and illegal bussinesd but they choose to remain adamant . it was clear in our investigation that they are taking items to the insurgents in the Bush. We are destroying these vehicles to serve as deterrent to others who engage in this act,” General Ibrahim added.
He said ” the vehickes which were intercepted about three weeks ago carrying contrabanned items which includes foodstuffs, fish, milk, mattress, spare parts . Cooking oil among other items to the Boko Haram and ISWAP in the Bush. ”
According to him, 10 peoples were arrested in connection with illigal business and that investigations have so far revealed that 8 people are involved in the illegal business, where the insurgents gives them money to supply the items for them, while investigation on two others are still ongoing.

There has been a significant increase in the airfares as airlines prepare to resume operations Wednesday.
The Federal Government had directed the resumption of domestic flights on July 8th after the March 30th lockdown of the airlines.
Checks by ThePunch revealed that the airlines raised their fares in all class of tickets for one-hour flights from Lagos to Abuja.
While flights for Dana Air on Economy Discount sold for N33,000 for a one way Lagos to Abuja flight, the Economy Flexible plan sold for N70,500.
Air Peace for its Economy-Flexi Domestic plan sold for N33,001 for a one way Lagos-Abuja trip while its business class ticket sold for N80,000.
Azman had economy tickets sold for N33,000 while business class sold for N60,000 for the same 1hour, 15 minutes’ trip.
Arik Air’s Economy plan was the lowest with N29,189 for economy and 71,532 for business class flights for a one-way Lagos to Abuja trip. One of the business class one-way trips sold for N126,199 for a trip slated for 4 pm.
More checks by ThePunch revealed that the ticket costs were driven by extra costs factored into the base fare.
In Air Peace’s economy flight breakdown, the base fare was N14, 239 while taxes and other fares made up the remaining N18, 762, pushing the total amount to N33,001.
Spokesperson of Dana Air, Kingsley Ezenwa who reacted to the costs said it was imperative customers booked flights early enough. However, he argued that the airline’s ticket prices were quite competitive.
Before the lockdown, economy tickets could go for as low as N15,000 and as high as N40,000 for one-hour flight.
Meanwhile, Arik Air has said that it will be operating three daily flights from Lagos to Abuja in the first phase of the aviation restart.
The airline noted that Port Harcourt will be added to the schedule from Saturday, July 11, 2020, when the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa would be reopened for operations
Arik Air Chief Executive Officer, Captain Roy Ilegbodu, in a statement on Sunday expressed optimism to take to the skies once again.

The theater Command Operation Lafiya Dole and the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army has inaugurated Camp Delta Operation Response force and Combato building to provvide quick response and reinforcement in the fight against insurgency and Combato building to provide restaurant, gymnastic and relaxation centres for the troops of the theater.
While commissioning the Camp Delta force at the headquarters 7 Division of the Nigerian Army at the Maimalari cantonment, Maiduguri on Thursday, the Chief of Army Staff, (COAS), Lt. General Tukur Buratai said “As parts of the Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL), the commissioning of the Delta force is to provide quick response to troops when ever they received destress call upon.it is often to any troops in operation that there is a troops to response to their emergencies in no time”
The Chief of Army Staff represented by the theater Commander Operation Lafiya Dole, ,Major General Faruk Yahaya said “this initiative was conceived by the Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division, Brigadier General Abdul Ibrahim to response to any threat in the fight against insurgency and any form of criminality.. The quick response force camp Delta is to provide response to any threat and provide place to rest for the Delta Special force’.
He said ” the commissioning of the Camp.Delta force was deliberately syncronized to be part of the NADCEL celebration 2020 to celebrate serving and retired officers and solders of the Nigerian Army and showcase the capability ”
‘ Today many projects are being commissioned in all Army formations and units across the country. Here in the 7 Division were witnessing the commissioning of Camp Delta force and also Comboto building which has restaurant, gymnastics and relaxation centre for our troops that’s 3 in one .
” I assured you of the Nigerian army’s determination to ending insurgency and all other forms of crime across the nation. On behalf of the CoAS I will like to congratulate the GOC 7 Division for successful completion and commissioning of the Combato”, he added.
On the commissioning the Combato building,, the theater Commander said ” my predecessor, General Adeniyi some time in February this year constructed a Combato tent but the tent with not withstand the weather of these areas. When I assumed office, I directed for construction of Combato building on 25th May, 2020 to serve as a special relaxation centre for our troops when they are off duty”.
” The Combato building provides restaurants, gymnastic and recreation to our staff, as well as meat joint.for relaxation of the troops during off duty hours and also to keep them fit.. .” the theater commander said.
While appreciating the COAS for his support to the theater, General Faruk Yahaya said we are committed ensure our mandate of keeping Northeast is sacrosanct. I therefore call on the troops of Operation Lafiya Dole to redouble our efforts, though rainy season is set it i know as a professionals we can do it as the COAS has urge us yo decisively deal with the insurgents ”
In his welcome address. The Acting Goc. 7 Division, Brigadier General Abdul Ibrahim said “on assumption of office as Acting GOC, I saw the need to put in place a befitting Camp Delta Response Reaction force to respond to emergencies and reinforcement to our troops.”
“With the force in place Maiduguri and its environs is safe and Maimalari cantonment is impregnantly secured. The Camp Delta force will Also provide s place for our special force to rest after successful response operation’s”, General Ibrahim added.
He assured the COAS and Nigerian in general that they determined to bring the war against insurgency to a successful end .

President Muhammadu Buhari’s Personal Assistant, Sabiu ‘Tunde’ Yusuf, has reportedly been caught using the President’s cell phone to text the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Godwin Emefiele to make financial demands.
Tunde has also been caught texting the General Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and others soliciting for finances and other demands.
The revelation was made to ElombahNews by a source close to the Presidential Villa.
The source also revealed that he also takes official letter headed papers for personal use.
He also reportedly changes memos, a “height of criminality,” the source noted.
