Ahead of the 2023 general elections,A non governmental organisation under the auspices “The Adamawa Elders Forum ” has charged all candidates aspiring for political offices to have the interest of the electorate at hearts.
Chairman of the Forum,Air Commodore (rtd)Dan Suleiman gave the charge in Yola Yesterday while hosting the gubernatorial candidate of Social Democratic Party,SDP, Dr. Umar Ardo on his mission and vision for the state if given the mandate by electorate come 2023 elections.
Commodore Dan and former Military administrator of Plateau state said the office-seeking politicians need to work on policies that have direct bearing on the yearnings of their people with a view to addressing the untold hardship facing them.
He therefore advised that sincerity of purpose,fairness and justice should be the watch ward of those in the corridors of power so that all would be given a sense of belonging in the Adamawa project.
In his remarks Secretary of the Forum,Engineer Stephen Kube announced that the forum was established purposely to work on uniting the Adamawa indigenes especially those in governance for over all interest of the state and its citizens.
Kube said the organisation is apolitical and open to all candidates of various political parties as a platform for them to share their proposals which will ensure development of the state.
Kube explained that the composition of the organisation cut across the 21 local government areas with 2 representatives from each devoid of any religious and tribal considerations.
Earlier,addressing the membership of the Forum present at the meeting,Dr. Ardo expressed delight for the opportunity accorded him to meet the calibre of senior citizens of the state describing it as a rare privilege to face them with his gubernatorial ambition.
Ardo stated that since the advent of democracy in 1999,Adamawa state has witnessed many administration s but with little impact on the human and physical infrastructures.
Ardo noted that his desire to contribute his quota in changing the narrative and fortunes of the state was the reason he joined the gubernatorial race.
“Our primary mission is to get everybody in the service of Adamawa state give the needed commitments essential for the realisation of our vision- by example,by action and by sacrifice,and to remain throughout the article of faith in the conduct of public service of the state.
“We intend to conquer hunger,provide proper healthcare for all,Accessibility to quality education,conquer unemployment,Ensure security of life and property,create wealth for the state as well as provide physical infrastructure and social services among others”.Ardo said.
He passionately solicited for support and guidance from the Forum always in areas his government may have not bring to fore as mortals advocating that his administration if given the mandate by the electorate come 2023 would on trust and sincerity of purpose.
