2023 : Adamawa Forum of Imams And Islamic Scholars Opposes Woman-Candidacy & Leadership.
From Umar Dankano,Yola.
Members of the Adamawa state forum of Islamic clerics have distanced themselves from a controversial claim that a woman can contest political office insisting that Shariah jurisprudence didn’t allow a woman to assume role of leadership.
The Forum disclosed its position public in Yola Tuesday at a one day sensitisation workshop it’s organised for Islamic scholars in the state stressing empathetically that Islam as a religion prohibits womenfolk from assuming leadership roles.
Speaking on the prohibition of woman’s leadership in Islam,Imam Hayatudeen Iya Said that Islam has clearly advanced that any society being led by a woman will be in calamity as Almighty Allah has prohibit a woman to lead due to the femininity in her creation.
Imam Iya stated that the religion of Islam command the position of a woman is staying in her matrimonial home which is viewed as a jihad noting that the books of Ibn Khasir and Dabarain have done justice to the enshrined roles of a woman as a supporter to her spouse.
Iya explained further that prophet Muhammad (SAW) women are weak in nature and have short memories saying that even in Islamic inheritance law,two women are taken to be one man.
“Most prophetic and Quranic authorities voided woman leadership role as a woman can’t have a say over women and leadership of woman is a sign of end time.
“As a matter of fact all these controversies over woman leadership is unnecessary going by the detects of the religion which negates it in its entirety Any circumstance where Almighty Allah says is haram( prohibited) and who ever is opposed to it by saying it halal ( permissible) is an unbeliever (Kafr)”.Iya emphasised.
Corroborating sheikh Aliyu Dalhat (Izala-Kaduna) advocated that all the qualities and features of leader have been outlined by scriptural provisions which needs to be adopted in choosing leaders so that justice and fairness can be found.
Sheikh Dalhat contended that for woman to think of joining a gubernatorial race is something strange to Islam and not allowed since our beloved Prophet Muhammad didn’t encourage such practice during his days.
He called on clerics to fear Allah and situate things as they are without fear or favour advising the electorate to follow the injunctions in making choices of leadership ahead of 2023 elections.
He added that voting for credible and just leaders is a jihad for the humanity as things may work out fine for the citizens.
Our correspondent reported that over hundred Imams and scholars of different Muslim sects from across the twenty one local government areas attended the sensitisation training and were unanimous in urging the public to the right thing as instructed by the religion.
