2023 Elections: INEC Engages 21, 000 Ad-hoc Staff in Borno

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in Borno state, Alhaji Magaji Ibrahim has said that a total of 21,000 Ad-hoc staff were engaged for the 2023 presidential lections across the 27 local government areas, 312 wards and units
Briefing journalists on the preparations for the 2023 presidential elections at the INEC office, Maiduguri on Wednesday,, Alhaji Magaji Ibrahim said ” the 21,000 Ad-hoc staff have been engaged and currently under going training and will be deployed to local government areas, wards and units. The 21,000 Ad-hoc staff which includes presiding officers, assistant presiding officers, RACs, local and wards collation officers are to be deployed to LGAs, wards and units., he added.
Borno have a total of 2,513,281 from 2011 to date and balance of 91, 584 uncollected PVCs , 77, 050 transfers, replacement and lost of PVCs out of which 62, 797 have so far collected and balance of 14, 255 PVCs remains uncollected “Ibrahim added.
He said the poling units will be opened by 8’30am to 2;30 pm and that anybody that is in the queue before 2;30 pm would be allow to vote,, stressing that adequate security arrangements has concluded for hitch free 2023 general elections.
The REC said ” Both sensitive and non sensitive materials have been received by the state including a total of 5,071 Bio-Modal Voters Accreditation System (BVAs) machines with additional back up . we have been also discussing with the security agencies on daily basis. Tomorrow, we are going to have a stakeholders meeting with security agencies, parties and other stakeholders after which we will commence distribution of the sensitive materials “.
On the issues of fuel and cash, he said ” we have been allocated two filling stations in Maiduguri and those in Southern Borno, will have their fuel in Biu. We also have enough cash for logistic, while the allowances of the Ad-hoc staff would be paid through E- payment “
