2023: Gawuna Charges Guber Candidates to Avoid Thuggery
By Hussaini Ibrahim Sulaiman
As political activities in Nigeria gravitate towards the 2023 general elections, the deputy governor of Kano State and the All Progressive Congress (APC), governorship flag bearer Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna reiterated that political thugs have no room in his political orbit, admonishing candidates to shun them.
Dr. Gawuna gave the charge during an interactive season with the gubernatorial candidate organized by G-25 for peace and development, philanthropist institutions, a coalition of Civil Society and NGOs, held at Babale Suit, Nassarawa GRA, Kano, recently.
According to him, if a flag bearer, from any party is prioritizing the interests of his people and his core reason for the candidature is to immensely serve them, there is no need for him to employ the use of thugs in his political activities to the extent that people are dying, hospitalizing just for him to earn the seat he’s yearning for.
“I have never engaged a single person to play role as a political thug for me and if there is anyone I called I’m begging for him not to hesitate to come-out and tell the world. Those should have to emulate from our children.
“None of our children plunged himself into such activities. I can’t deceive my people to say something that I truly believe I couldn’t execute just because I need them to vote for me,” He added.
He revealed that, none of these boys are eventually being vote or being appointed onto any political seat despite what they do during campaign rallies.
The occasion has equally served as bold platform to critically examine all development strides and new innovations the present leadership accomplished and to study his political ambition and his blueprint for Kano as he unveiled some of his plans and administration’s strategies for Kano if he emerged as the winner of the governorship election of 2023.
He stressed that transparency is the key to good governance, adding that when you are transparent your administration will ensure prudence, prevent leakages as well as be free and devoid of cabals.
“We will ensure we activate transparency and accountability to instill good governance”.
“Our vision and concern is to continue to make progress and provide basic needs to the people of Kano State”.
“I don’t believe in cabals and there will be no such group of people when I am the Governor of Kano State he said”.
“Our transparent policy will not give chance to those that will not allow us to enthrone good governance, improve effectiveness and service for development to our people”.
He further pledged to focus more on the sustenance of the peaceful atmosphere enjoyed in the State through enhancement of security measures to protect the lives and properties of the people.
“Through this effort, we will provide enabling environment for investors to come and do business in Kano”.
Speaking on women and youths, Gawuna said they will be an integral part of his administration when voted as Governor in order to enhance and sustain the positive growth of the State.
Other areas the APC candidate spoke extensively about were his development plans in Health, Education, Agriculture, Infrastructure and Environment sectors.
