28 Persons Feared Dead, 9 Others injured in Borno As Boko Haram Attacked 2 Towns

Not fewer than twenty seven fishermen, 1 policeman feared dead, 9 others injured by suspected members of Boko Haram insurgents/Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP), attacked Dikwa and Magumeri towns of Borno state.
A resident of Dikwa, Ibrahim Bulama said ” on Wednesday many insurgents fighters suspected to be Boko Haram opened fire on a group of fishermen who went to fetch firewood outside Guggo village, 18 kilometers (12 miles) from the Dikwa town..”
Bulama said “we have recovered 26 bodies last night along the river bank and nearby bushes. The figure may be more as we are still searching for more in surrounding bushes,”
The fishermen were said to have went out to fetch firewood when the insurgents came out and opened fire on them, killing 25 people, while the remaining fishermen flee,and alerted Dikwa people about the attack,.
Also in Magumeri, the insurgents attempted to attack crack square formation in the town , killing one policeman, snatched their Hilux vehicle but was later recovered by the joint military police operatives in the town
A resident of the town, said the insurgents who came on Wednesday parked their vehicle and tracked to the police station and opened fire on the policemen who engaged them in duel gun battle, killing an Inspector of Police.
Confirming the incident the Borno state Police Commissioner, CP Abdu Umar said ” yes yesterday Boko Haram attacked our Crack squad stationed in Magumeri, where they engaged them in gun battle repelling the insurgents but unfortunately bullet hit one of our personnel who died his corpse had brought to General hospital Maiduguri”
He said they also snatched one of their vehicle but the joint military and police repelled and recovered the snatched vehicle.
On the Dikwa attacked, the CP said ” in Dikwa 25 fishermen were killed, 9 injured,,4 are currently receiving treatment at the General Hospital Dikwa.
