WARDC Organises 2 Day Capacity Building Workshop For Female Candidates in 2023 General Elections

In its efforts go increase women participation in politicos, the Women Advocate Research and Documentation Centre (WARDC), in collaboration with UN Women and Canadian government have organised a two day coaching and mentoring workshop for Female candidates in the 2023 general elections.
Speaking at the opening of the workshop which held at the Amada International Hotels, Maiduguri on Monday, the President of the Women Advocate Research and Documentation Centre (WARDC), Prof. Patricia Donli said ” honesty, integrity and truthfulness is key to any success in politicos and call on all female candidates not use deceptive promises ”
Professor Donli who urged the participants to plan and strategize their campaign activities, persevere and be honest to surmount the campaign challenges, said ” I urge you to always plan and strategize, persevere and be honest your campaign activities as without proper planing, and perseverance you cannot win elections”.
The workshop which was organised by the WARDC) in collaboration with the Canadian government attracted 16 female candidates vying for different positions of Governorship, Deputy Governor, Senate, House of Representatives, State house of Assemblies seats cross the state aimed at coaching and mentorship women candidates in Borno state.
In her welcome address, the Head of Abuja Office of the WARDC and the Director programs Mrs Emmanuela Azu said “the essence of this 2 day coaching and mentoring of female candidates in 2023 elections across all political divides is to build their capacity to be able to emerge winners”.
” we are now in Borno state, Borno is among 7 states in Nigerian the projects focused on. The program is sponsored by the UN Women in collaboration with the government of Canada and the whole essence was to see more women emerge winners in 2923 to increase the number of female, build their capacity to campaign and eventually win elections and increase representation of women”, Azu added.
A female, Governorship candidate under the Social Democratic Party, (SDP), Fatimah Abubakar , said that she is not in any way intimidated by the make dominated politicos landscape.
Hajiya Fatima said “I am going unseat Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state come 2023 general election, as I have the support based of women who constitute over 50 percent of the voters in the state.
Also, a candidate for the House of Representative, representing Damboa, Gwoza and Chibok Federal constituency, Mrs Aisha Izghe said ” it is time for us, women to participate in politics and increase representation to change the way things are being done for .the betterment of women and children lives”.
