The Season of Awards For Mai Mala Buni “The Peoples’ Governor ”

It all began on one stormy day in 1990 in Buni Gari/Yadi Old Borno, when Bamai Mala began his political Journey as ward councillor under the umbrella of National Republican Convention (NRC) when he contested and was overwhelmingly voted.
The visionary up close, rediscovering a Yobean.
Some people are just born special, some gifted with talent in art and culture, some are effortlessly speaking in languages, some are exceptionally good looks.
Buni got the best of gifts, he is given an extraordinary vision that comes with remarkable ideas and wisdom, his name comes with 32 productive years of selfless service that made huge impact on the life of the people.
His 32 years of selfless service to the people attracted him series of tittles, political awards, organisational bodies awards, and national honours from president Muhammadu Buhari and president Bazoum of Niger Republic among others.
He is known as a public servant by profession, A business man by occupation and an all-inclusive leader by passion also a politician by commitment and mission and an advocate of equality and quality education, healthcare service delivery, affordable housing for civil servant and less privileged among others.
Throughout his political career from 1990 as a councillor to date as the democratically elected governor of yobe state, Buni have strived to uplift his people, he has contributed and contributing to local, state and national development, especially at the epic battle of 2015 general election, when he fought politically as the national secretary against the oppressive government of PDP to a standstill.
Gov. Buni is among the pillars who ushered in the current political dispensation and was the pioneer yobe state chairman of Action Congress (AC) and later the All Nigerians people party (ANPP) a political gladiator with voluminous records and unquestionable character.
Buni cultivated and nursed the habit of inclusiveness in his leadership style, with humility and oneness, that means service to the people at all times, he always owns his mistakes and failure and very open to learning from his mistakes in other to forge ahead.
He became a progressive because he kept moving and forging ahead, growing and pioneering new frontiers, those around him gain energy from being part of a dynamic movement, brave in thinking, daring in action, that’s why he always accomplishes anything he stands for and goal oriented.
Today grassroot politics has become a major and popular yardstick for measuring the success or otherwise of elected political leaders, charity, the wise people say begins at home.
Gov. Buni’s Season awards doesn’t come as a surprise, today everyone can see his report card, he has scored extremely well, he has shown prudence especially in the use of mega resources of his state, his gigantic healthcare service delivery, each 178 wards of the 17 local government areas benefitted with each having a unit of healthcare centre, mechanized agricultural equipment to each 17 local government areas been an agrarian state, a world class Sunday shopping mall, the largest trailer transit park cut across Africa, international cargo airport, modern mega secondary/primary schools, affordable housing units, poverty alleviation programme, Creating of Job portal among others.
His excellency Hon Mai Mala Buni, CON, the executive Governor of yobe state has so far, proved to be the best in governance and service delivery mandate, a level headed leader who is beyond reproach who comes as a consensus builder and an individual who will never improve himself at the expense of the people of the state.
He have being a role model and example of selfless giving to this generation of Nigeria and indeed future generations, he is indeed a generational thinker. The good people of yobe are very lucky to have such an inclusive ICON who carries everyone along not minding tribe, religion, status or political affiliations, he is indeed a leader worthy of emulation.
The awards have their roots, in the smiles of a happy populace, a good people who see and appreciate the gains they are making in a season of national anguish, Roads, schools and hospitals are springing up in a communities long abandoned to their fate, graduates are being given the ICT skills needed to fish in the tide of information super highways, agric entrepreneur are beginning to build the future in farm settlement equipped with state-of-the- art technology.
People are empowered to take charge of the economy and hence their slice of life’s offerings in a rapid and happily changing state. In this clime where integrity and accountability have become a rarity, appreciating the valiant efforts of the few leaders who stand out away from the madding crowd is a patriotic duty.
