2023 : Adamawa INEC Receives 4,104 BVAS For General Elections – REC

Ahead of the 2023 general elections,the Adamawa state Independent Electoral Commission,INEC announced the collection of 4,104 Bimodal Voter Accreditation system (BVAS) for the state.
Resident Electoral Commissioner,REC in charge of the state’s Commission,Barrister Hudu Yunusa Ari made the disclosure in Yola Tuesday at a critical stakeholders meeting stressing that all necessary arrangements are on top gear for exercise.
Barrister Ari said BVAS will be used for the 2023 elections in all the polling units in the state adding that the commission will deploy a technology for transmitting election results from the polling units which are being tested for configuration and labelling the BVAS.
Ari called on the people to go and collect their permanent Voter’s cards,PVCs at the various electoral officers across the 21 local government areas in the state explaining that 187,377 PVCs are for 2019 opening balance.
He stated that 2019 PVCs collected till date are 77,566 while 2019 balance of the PVCs are 106,811 noting that 215,280 are for 2021-2022 fresh registration received and a total 113,713 fresh registration PVCs collected till date for 2021-2022.
He also confirmed that grand total PVCs received stand at 505.937 while grand total of PVCs uncollected in the state are 253,774 respectively.
On the conduct of Internally Displaced persons voting, the REC maintained that the commission has reviewed and revalidated the framework for them to vote especially those in Madagali,Yola South and Fufore councils.
In his contribution at the meeting,Commissioner of Police,CP Sikiru Akande saluted all the critical players in the electioneering exercise with a view to ensure free fair,credible and peaceful elections.
CP Akande enjoined the public to be patriotic and law abiding before during and after the national assignment for electing new leaders in the state and country at large.
Our correspondent reported that most of the stakeholders that attended the meeting expressed satisfaction with the arrangements by INEC appealing to them to be professional in their undertakings all through.
