Activist blast Prof. Ango over NEF position on Buhari’s re-election

By Baba Yakubu Yola 10/12/2018

An Activist and Public Commentator in Adamawa, Alhaji Suleiman Baba-Jada, has lambasted the leader of Northern Elders Forum (NEF), Prof. Ango Abdullahi for saying that President Buhari’s administration has failed the north.

Baba-Jada who spoke to newsmen in Yola said Abdullahi’s claimed has no basis and cannot be justified in view of the series of federal government completed and ongoing projects and programmes in the north.

The octogenarian said its sad and unfortunate for Andullahi who is an educated man and a leader of a group like NEF to engage in such baseless allegations just to discredit Buhari’s administration for political reason.

“I am above 70 years old and I want to say clearly that Ango Abdullahi is not talking on behalf of many northern elders like me as he claimed; he is just talking for himself and few elders like him.

“How can someone say that Buhari has failed the north? The north like other sections of the country has benefited immensely in terms of projects and laudable programmes like Anchor Borrowers, N-Power and the likes.

“As elders we need to engage in constructive criticism and stop acting as spokesmen of politicians,” Baba-Jada said.

He also criticized the active engagement of some religious leaders in politics by their acts of open support to candidates, adding that such measures from religious leaders and traditional rulers who are expected to be father to all is not proper.

“They should be preaching good governance and the need for credible and peaceful elections at this period instead declaring support for candidates.

“They aught to know that they have diverse followers from various religion and political parties and should not be seen to be taken side.”

He also criticized the First Lady for her attitude of choosing public function or media to say things that looked more like attacking the administration of her husband.

“With what she has been doing she only succeeded in portraying herself as the major problem of her husband.

“Her approach is contrary to religious and cultural teachings. As someone more closer to the president she has no moral ground to be talking the way she is talking.

“To most people her talks sounds more like something from the script of the opposition,” Baba-Jada lamented.
