Adamawa Govt in Collaboration With IGLSA Trains 100 CBO’s on Community Inclusion, Development & Governance

With a view to promote inclusiveness in governance and development, the Institute for Governance and Leadership Studies in Africa (IGLSA) has organised a two-day capacity building training for community based Organisations(CBOs) in Adamawa state.
The workshop which had 50 participants per day from different community based organisations in the state touched on mobilisation of the people in governance especially execution of programmes and policies,leadership through electoral processes among others.
Delivering his welcome address,Leader of the group (IGLSA),Dr.Lanre Adebayo said the engagement of the community based organisations was solidly to enhance citizens inclusiveness,development and community mobilisation.
Adebayo stated that the program was conducted in partnership with the Adamawa state government and their Organisation (IGLSA) with a sole aim of carrying people in government activities.
He noted that the training will encourage leadership among the young groups and to partner government for more development in all nooks and crannies of the state.
“The training is to enlighten the people in governance,circumspect about political parties and their candidates and to know their capacity and quality.
“This is the first phase of the training in the series which involved 100 beneficiaries from various registered groups so that they can step down the takeaways from the engagement to their communities for maximum impact”.Adebayo explained.
In his remarks,Commissioner of information and strategy,Dr.Garba Pella said the training is part of the new innovative approaches been adopted by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s administration to ensure synergy between the government and its people.
Pella added that the Fintiri led-government is always open to such robust partnership which will be beneficial to its people noting that development can only happen if communities are involved in governance.
“We need to encourage our youth to take up leadership and to know that leadership come with responsibility if the youth will have this at the core of their hearts,the society will be the better for it”.Pella advanced.
