Appreciating Gov. Buni’s Passion To Serve Yobe
By Yusuf Ali, Damaturu
He was a powerful National Secretary of the governing All Progressives Congress, APC with 22 governors before he was elected to come and serve Yobe. The office is less stressful and very influential as the party in power. Yet, Buni left all the juicy powers and influence in the APC Headquarters in Abuja to serve Yobe.
Even when he became the APC Chairman Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, where he rebuild and reposition the party, Buni would have moved to become the Chairman of APC if he all wanted. But the passion to serve Yobe to the best of his ability is foremost in his mind.
If it is to wield power and influences, the office of the National Secretary or Chairman of a ruling party like the APC is by far better than office of the executive governor of Yobe state. At the party headquarters, a Chairman and Secretary administer party affairs in all APC States. A governor is only a leader of the party in his own state.
It is therefore clear that Buni did not run for office of the governor for power and influence rather to deliver good governance for the overall wellbeing of the people. Buni has proved that the essence of leadership was to improve the wellbeing and welfare of the people through execution of projects that have direct bearing on the lives of the people.
It was by the will of God that he was elected to serve the people. If it was because of power and influence Buni has it all in the APC headquarters where governors come for party leadership. Buni didn’t come to seek power but to serve the people genuinely. He has asserted and confirmed that to the people; that is what is in his heart.
As media aides, we are telling the people to know so that they will key in and support whatever he his doing in the interest of the state. I believe with the achievements in just three and half years, even the members of the opposition are convinced that the Buni administration is about service to the people, that’s the spirit and the essence of what the governor usually say, a ‘service to humanity’.
That is the source of inspiration for Buni and that’s why he is executing people-oriented projects so that he can be remembered and prayed for as a leader, who has contributed his quota for the development of the state.
The Buni administration has been spending big in the provision of critical projects like roads, schools, markets, healthcare centres, among others across the state.
Similar investments are being done across LGAs to ensure all inclusive growth and development for the people of the state. That is Buni’s passion to serve Yobe.
