Bishop Mamza of Yola Catholic Diocese urges EFCC,ICPC to investigate leadership of National Christian Pilgrimage Commission over alleged corruption and mismanagement.

The Executive Secretary of the National Christian Pilgrimage Commission,Rev Yakubu Pam should resign his position due to alleged incompetence and gross misconduct in handling the activities of the commission.
Chairman of the Adamawa state Christians Association of Nigeria,CAN Bishop Stephen Dami Mamza made the call at a press briefing in Yola Thursday decrying that the leadership style of Rev Pam is creating more embarrassing and unbecoming attention to the commission as well as Christendom in the country.
Bishop Mamza who was noticed visibly disturbed said his statements were informed as a result of the shady pilgrimage exercise to Rome conducted by the commission in the last six(6) months for 2022 where the Adamawa state government made provision for large number of Christian pilgrims but the pilgrimage was a total mess due poor arrangements.
Mamza alleged that despite the huge amount of money paid by the state government no accommodation, feeding and buses for movement arrangements were made by the Rev. Yakubu Pam leadership lamenting that as a leader of a team of 135 pilgrims in Rome,he had used his personal resource to assist them (Pilgrims).
Mamza called on the secretary to the government of Federation,SGF Boss Mustapha to invite the EFCC and ICPC to investigate the activities of the commission with a view to unravel the massive corruption and mismanagement of the entire process.
“My conscience has been bordering me about the activities taking place at the National Christian Pilgrimage Commission under the leadership of Rev. Yakubu Pam to Rome six months ago because pilgrims were left stranded to their fates despite adequate funds made by the Adamawa state government.
“The said pilgrimage that supposed to be for minimum of one week or 10 days,stayed for only one night because no arrangements for accommodation,feeding and buses for movements by the commission.
“I was able to make arrangement for us to have audience with Pope and he (Pope) recognised and acknowledged the presence of over 100 pilgrims from Adamawa state.
We were so delighted over that gesture.
“The National Pilgrimage commission is in a serious mess and I want to use this opportunity to call on the SGF because I understand that the commission is under his office to make the activities of Rev. Yakubu Pam in the National Christian pilgrimage commission be investigated.
“A lot of things are going on wrong there and it seems to be he is single handedly working because recently there was a letter from the chairman of that commission disassociating himself from any activity of the commission.
“In fact I wouldn’t even hesitate to say that the EFCC and ICPC should go and investigate the activities that are taking place at the National Christian pilgrimage commission because I am sure they will found a lot of things happening there that are not in order”.Bishop Mamza fumed.
