Boko Haram killings, FG, Northern Governors forum, NEDC donates cash, food items to traumatized people of Zabarmari

The Northern Governor’s Forum, (NGF), Northeast Development commission, (NEDC) and the Federal government in their efforts to bring succour to the immediate families of 48 slain Farmers and the entire bereaved farming community of Zabarmari that lost their loved ones on Saturday 30th November, 2020 in a Boko Haram insurgents attacked have brought cash and food items, as assistance to the community

Speaking in an interview with newsmen during the distribution of food items, In. Zabarmari on Friday, the chairperson, Borno State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA, Hajiya Yabawa Kolo said “our essence of being here is to sympathize with the bereaved people of Zabarmari and share in their grief as, well as assist them . Each of the 48 bereaved families were given the sum of N600,000, 10 bags of maize, millet, 10 Cartons of spaghetti cartons of Maggi cubes, Jerry cans of cooking oil among other each”

“The cash was donated by the Northern Governor’s Forum and Northeast Development Commission (NEDC) where northern Governor’s Forum donated the sum of N20 million, while NEDC donated N5 million making a total of N25 million which was disbursed to the immediate families of the 48 victims. ‘ Mrs Kolo stated .

“The Federal government through the minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Social Development and Disaster management , Hajiya Safiya Faruk brought a total of 13,000 Bag of Rice, Maize and Beans, 1,300 cans of vegetable oil,2116 cartons of seasoning Cubes, 1083 Tomato and 650 sachet of salts and was extended to the entire community

To ensure successful and fair distribution of the items to the Zabarmari community, the Borno state Governor , Babagana Zulum constituted a committee chaired by Borno’s commissioner for youths and sports, Hon Saina Buba and other stakeholders from the local government area and were to work closely with SEMA officials to identify disburse and distribute the food items to the entire community.

Also speaking to newsmen, the chairman elect of Jere local government area, Hon Gunja Tom thanked the Governor for identifying with them during their trying moment and for the gestures.

” We want to thank Governor Zulum for identifying with us, he personally participated in the funeral prayers and burial of our people and not only that he facilitated donations of both cash and kind to our people. We really appreciate and prayed that God will reward him abundantly”

In his remarks the APC chairman of the local government area, Alhaji, Kachalla Maifata said ” we have gotten enough assistance and we are satisfied with the distribution process, as every member of the community has benefited. The food is more than enough. It is enough for 3000 households, as you can see we still have food items on ground and we are about to give to all members of the community”

One of the victims who lost his brother, Garba Idi said ” though we are saddened by the dead of our loved ones but we take solace in Allah. We are also appreciative to all those that identify with us during this moment, this shows that Nigerians are with us, we are not alone. The cash of N600, 000 will help us in taking care of the education of the children of my brother “

Another beneficiary from the community, Falmata Adamu thanked governor Zulum, the minister of humanitarian and all well meaning Nigerian for the gesture and prayed that God will reward them.

Member PDP Board of Trustees, Sen. Joy Emordi, Joins APC

A member, Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Joy Emordi, today defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.

Chairman APC Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee and Yobe state Governor, Mai Mala Buni, formally received the senator in a brief ceremony in Abuja.

Sen. Emordi, said she was convinced that the future of a prosperous and united Nigeria lies in the APC.

She described the APC leadership as sincerely and genuinely committed to a united Nigeria that has plans for the future generation.

The legislator assured the party of her loyalty and her supporters to the party “l assure the party of my loyalty and support and to work for the success of the party.”

Sen. Emordi said “the APC led federal government is working for the South East and this is attracting more PDP members into APC.”

The Chairman CECPC Mai Mala Buni, expressed delight with the decision taken by the board member to contribute to the unity of the country.

“There is need for us to join hands for the political stability and national unity of our dear country” he said.

Governor Buni said the coming of Sen. Emordi and other prominent politicians from the South East into the APC will promote national unity.

“The South east is a strong political block and very crucial to the unity of the country, this will mo doubt add to national cohesion ” the Chairman added.

The All Progressive Congress ( APC) in Borno state has peacefully held its ward congresses, as Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state joined others members of his ward , Mafa Central ward of Mafa local government area of Borno state where they elected 27 member ward executives of the party inline with the ongoing ward, local government and state congresses of the party

Addressing the delegates befoe throwing the question, the chairman of the APC Congress committee in Borno state, who is also former Deputy Governor of Taraba state, Alhaji Uba Amadu said ” we are here in Mafa on behalf of APC national headquarters, Abuja to witnessed and monitor the ward congress of our party. We are here to ensure that the congress were conducted in accordance with our party constitution”.

” Our party constitution has allow that the congresses should be done in 3 ways that is, through direct and indirect process, as well as consensus, It could be recalled that the state statutory delegates had last Wednesday agreed that Borno state has opted for consensus.. Today we are here to ensure that what you agreed on is implemented to the later.” Alhaji Anadu added

Those unanimously affirmed through voice votes, as the 27 man Executive of the Mafa central ward of the Mafa local government area were, Alhaji Ali chori, as chairman, Alh Gado Ka’ana as Vice chairman, Alhaji Gada sarki as secretary, Alhaji Babagana Kachalla, treasurer among others executives of the ward.

Speaking in an interview with newsmen in Mafa, shorty after the exercise , Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state called on the APC members in the state to conduct themselves peacefully and be united for the progress of the party, state and the country at large..

“I want to use this opportunity to thank you for conducting yourselves peacefully, we want to also thank the national , state and local government committee for ensuring peaceful congress in Mafa central my ward”, Zulum.

He said ” I want to assure you that APC administration in Borno state under my leadership will continue to provide more dividends of democracy to our people. We are going to establish additional secondary school here in Mafa for our children to go to school, we are also going to train our youths across all wards of the local government, so that they will be engaged “.

As at the time of filing in this reports the ward congresses were going on simultaneously and peacefully in Biu and Hawul local government, as well as other wards across the state

APC Congress: Buni calls for peaceful exercise, warns against sabotage

As the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, warms up for its ward Congress on Saturday, the Chairman Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee and Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni has enjoined party stakeholders and members to conduct the exercise peacefully.

In a statement signed Friday night by his Director-General on media and publicity, Mamman Mohammed, Governor Buni called on officials conducting the Congress to be fair and objective to all candidates contesting the election.

“As stakeholders of the party, we have a great responsibility to make the ward Congress in all the participating states successful.

“We should endeavour to place the party and members interest above personal interests,” Buni charged.

The chairman warned that the party would not hesitate to take decisive measures against anyone who deliberately sabotaged the Congress.

“We have come a long way repositioning the party, we have reconciled many groups and individuals, we must not allow personal interests in this election to divide us and draw us back,” he advised.

He expressed the commitment of the committee to entrench internal democracy and respect for the People’s choice.

Governor Buni further said adequate arrangements had been made by the party to conduct successful and acceptable congresses across the country.
