BOSIEC Fixes Saturday 20th, May For 2023 LG Elections

The Borno State Independent Electoral Commission (BOSiEC) has fixed Saturday 20th May as the date for 2023 Local Government council Election into the 27 local government area’s of the state.
Announcing the scheduled date, the Executive Chairman of BOSIEC Alhaji Lawan Maina Mahmud who made this known during a stakeholders meeting at the conference Hall of the Commission said the meeting is to kick start the process of Election activities of the Commission,.
Accordingly to him, section 10 and18 sub section a(a) of BOSIEC law 2002 empowers the commission to organized , undertake and supervise Elections in all the 27 local Government area’s of the the state..
Alhaji Mahmud Said the commission valued the participation of all the stakeholders and commended them for their quick response despite the Short notice adding that the commission is ready to conduct free , fair and credible election..
The BOSIEC chairman, therefore, solicited their support and cooperation for a free, fair and credible elections, pointing out that their support cannot be overemphasize towards entrenchment of Democracy’s at the grassroot.
Earlier, the state coordinator of Code of Conduct Bureau Alhaji Grema urged civil Servants venturing into politics to resign and declare their assets.
Speaking on behalf of the political parties, Alhaji Abba shettima Imam of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), advised politician’s to present credible candidates and documents for screening to avoid disqualification and Litigations.
