Breaking: Former Egyptian president Mohammed Morsi dies in court

Former Egyptian president Mohammed Morsi who was ousted in 2013 has died in Court.

Morsi reportedly died on Monday after a court session where he was facing espionage charges. He was 67.

He was Egypt’s first democratically elected president, but lasted only one year in power before being ousted by the military on 3 July 2013.

We are determined to end Boko Haram soon, New theater Commander Operation Hadin Kai assures Nigerians

The new theater Commander, Joint Tasks Force, Northeast, Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Christopher Musa has said that the military is determined to end Boko Haram insurgency very soon

General Musa took over the mantle of leadership of the theater with the assurances that very soon the Boko Haram insurgency will come to an end.

Speaking in an interview with newsmen, shortly after taking over the command on Friday, the theater Commander, Major General Christopher Musa said ” what you would be expecting, is victory, you were all here yesterday, when the President and commander in Chief was addressing the troops about the deployment of equipments and resources. We have gotten all the necessary assistance , on our part, we want to assured you that we will bring this menace to logical conclusion within shortest possible time”.

“As symmetric warfare kept on evolving, as the adversary keep on evolving , we will do the same, until we ensure we terminate everyone that are opposing our victory.”, General Musa tressed.

While soliciting the support of the media, the New theater commander said ” I want to solicit for your support, we are all human beings and Nigerians. During war nobody is a winner, we are all victims . The media has a great role to play. Security is not the business of the military alone, it is collective efforts of all. So we count on your support to win this war”

Also speaking in an interview, the former Acting theater commander, Major General Felix Omogui said ” it is customary and routine thing in the military that when you spent some time you will be posted out to another area. We have done our best and we are still doing our best . We have disciplined, and hardworking troops , with what my successor has, I believe this war will come to an end very soon.”

” With equipment and resources the commander in Chief, Chief of Defense Staff and the service Chiefs have provided we will be able to bring this war to an end”, General Omogui stated.

Earlier, while addressing the troops, the Former Acting Theater Commander said ” I know you are disciplined and hardworking i urge you to continue to be hardworking, alert and vigilant, victory will be assured.. I urge you to extend the support you have been giving to me to my successor, If you do so, you have no problem, and we will quickly finish this war”.

He said ” I want you to keep up with the good work, don’t relent . As i leave, I am going to keep in touch with you and pray for you this war must be won the President and service Chiefs have provided enough for us to work with and with your determination and level of discipline , in no distance time we will win the war”

President Muhammadu Buhari has assured the troops of Joint Taskforce Operation Hadin Kai has extol the untiring efforts of the Armed Forces in the midst of difficulty they experienced in restoring peace in the northeast,.

President Muhammadu Buhari made the assurance while addressing the troops of Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai at the Maimalari cantonment, Maiduguri on Thursday said I wish to extol your untiring efforts in the midst of difficulty you experienced, your efforts have resorted into relative peace being enjoyed in the northeast,”

While commending, the troops for their sacrifices and gallantly, President Buhari said ” under my watch, the armed forces of Nigeria will provide firm strategy and clear sense of direction to safeguard the territorial integrity of the country. We should not allow our adversaries the opportunity or breathing space to challenge our national interest and core values,” he vowed. “

“I want to seize the opportunity to put it in record that our nation will forever remained indebted to you for your patriotism and commitment to the defense of our fatherland against insurgency and criminality ,”he further stated.

He promised to ensure timely release of funds for the success of all military operations and efforts to bring sanitary to all troubled areas in the country and lauded the synergy among armed forces and other security agencies.

He further said resources will be deployed to ensure the widows and children of all fallen heroes who paid the supreme price are well taken care of. He promised wounded troops of government resolve to take care of their medical care.

President Buhari also spoke to each of the soldiers, asking for their names and dates they were injured.

At the Shehu’s Palace, the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Garbai Elkanemi said ” Borno has been at the receiving end of insurgency in the last few years, where thousands of lives were lost, many communities completely destroyed and economic means of livelihood of our people has been crippled,. However, relative peace has been restored by our gallant Armed Forces and normalcy is been restored in most parts of Borno and Northeast in general”.

The Royal father while commending the Federal Government for restoring peace back to the region, also appealed to the President to ensure the return of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), particularly the people of Abadam, Mallamfatori, Gashigar and the Tumbu Islands.

Earlier, Governor Babagana Zulum said. ” Within the last few years, the government and people of Borno state has witnessed a gradual return of peace, it is our sincere hope and believe that soon the insurgency will come to an end “.

He said ” despite numerous projects executed by the Federal Government, like Oliver twist we urge the President to ensure that teeming populace to have access

He had earlier commissioned some projects executed by the Borno State government including newly built Government Technical College, Njimtilo, comprehensive health centre, State University Senate Building, roads along others.

President Buhari to pay official visits to Maiduguri on Thursday

President Muhammadu Buhari expected to be in Maiduguri on Thursday on state viisit to commission some projects executed by the Borno state Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum.

Among the projects that the President includes 4,000 houses constructed by the Federal Government to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

Others projects slated for Presidential commissioning, Borno State University, Maiduguri. Borno State Vocational Enterprising Institute, Muna, Government Day Technical Secondary School, Njimtilo, Dr Babagana Wakilbe Memorial School, Abbaganaram Maternal Healthcare Centre, Jiddari polo road and drainage works, Kaleri Resettlement housing

Speaking on the visit, Governor Babagana Zulum said ” Insha’Allah, our President, Muhammadu Buhari, will be coming to Borno State on Thursday, the 17th of June, 2021″.
.

*The President is coming to appraise security situation in the northeast, during which he will commission some of developmental projects executed by the state government, “he added.

Governor Zulum said ” the President will also commission the first phase of 10,000 houses which he generously approved and funded, for the resettlement of IDPs and refugees.
I am glad to once again, confirm to you, that the Federal Government under President Buhari has completed 4,000 out of the 10,000 houses approved for our IDPs. Some of these houses are sited in Kaleri, Dalori and more locations. “.

The goveror also said, not long ago, President Buhari gave approval for the NNPC, to establish a power plant for us in Borno. This aims to address our electricity problems in Maiduguri and environs. This landmark project will insha’Allah, greatly impact on small, medium and large scale business to thrive. The project will improve our social conditions and communal security.”.

While urging the people of the state to come enmass to welcome the president, Governor Zulum said ” I most respectfully invite and urge all of us, to come out and honour a President, whose love for Borno has been so obvious…I urge us to demonstrate Borno’s creed of hospitality. Borno is known with the culture of dignity, the culture of respect and the culture of honoring our guests. Let us once again, show the Borno in all of us, as we host our President.”
