Fight against insurgency, group honours commander of defunct SARS in Borno for gallantry

A group called the Borno Emirate Concerned Citizens Forum (BECCF) has on Sunday honoured, the Officer in Charge (OC) of the defunct Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad (F-SARS)CSP Muhammed Ibrahim, for “his exceptional courage” and promotion of peace.
While presenting the plaque of the Award to the Commander at the Dujima Hotel in Maiduguri, the Chairman of the BECCF, Alhaji Zanna Hassan-Boguma, said police officer and his team had achieved alot in curbing criminality, kidnapping including insurgents.
Mr Ibrahim, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), headed the Borno state Police command’ of Anti-robbery Crack Squad before it was later converted to SARS since 2011 to 2020.
Group said that their complimentary support to the Nigerian military in the counter insurgency campaign had risen within residents of Maiduguri and indeed other local government areas (LGA) of the state, adding that the outstanding performance of the officer made him become famous for his significant role toward return of relative peace in the state.
Also speaking, Yusuf Zannah-Bukar Mandara, a Member of the Borno Elders Forum, congratulated the officer for his exceptional performance and breakthrough by facilitating crime and terror free society.
He said “This Award of Excellence in service is quite important and signifies your commitment to your service. The Forum understand that the successes recorded during your time as the Commander of the defunct FSARS is exceptional and was conducted with high sense of professionalism and human feelings.”
“This assertion might be contrary to the perception held by others from far away because we in Borno have maintain that FSARS police unit is extraordinarily significant in the restoration of peace in the state.. You should be proud of this honour, and the Forum want you to know that we are not only proud of you but also thrilled to see you advancing in your career in good health and prosperity.”, He added.
He further said “We believe that your achievement have an impact beyond your individual aspirations, since you inspire others to realised their goals too,”.
While receiving the award, CSP Muhammed dedicated the honour to all members of the former SARS in Borno, his family as well as the entire members of the Civilian-JTF who contributed to the successes recorded by the outfit.
“Awards, no doubt, a source of encouragement, inspiration, fulfillment and gratifying which boosts our spirit and a drive that rekindles new fire inside us to steer into new challenges. I also want to dedicate this award to our men who lost their lives in the line of duty. I want to assure them that their sacrifices is not in vain. Our aim is to be part of history of restoring peace to Borno state.”, Ibrahim further stressed

The state of Qatar has pledged to support Yobe state government in building infrastructure across the state.
The Ambassador to the State of Qatar, Abdulaziz Mubarak Al-Muhamadi, stated this on Friday when Governor Mai Mala Buni paid him a courtesy visit.
Al-Muhamadi said Qatar would construct schools, clinics and water facilities among others to complement government efforts to improve the lives of the people.
“The state of Qatar will support your government to improve the lives of your people with befitting facilities” he assured.
The Ambassador said the State of Qatar would also consider direct flight from Qatar to Yobe state through the Damaturu International cargo airport when completed to support direct investment into the state.
Governor Buni said Yobe state government would provide the necessary support for the partnership to succeed.
“This opportunity will support our programme and focus on infrastructural and economic development in the state” Buni said.

Member House of Representatives, Jere federal constituency in Borno state, Hon. Ahmed Satomi has on Wednesday shared a total of N25 million to 250 beneficiaries, even as about 1000 vulnerable groups got food items.
Just yesterday Satomi distributed food items to over 700 widows, mostly whose husbands were killed by Boko Haram sect in the constituency.
Recalled that the Lawmaker had recently doled out N47 million to better the lives of his people and make them economically self -reliant in this period of Ramadan fasting.
Speaking while distributing the monies and relief items to his electorate in Maiduguri, the lawmaker said apart from this gesture, he will ensure that dividends of democracy and inclusive representation achieved across all the political wards in the constituency.
He said, the beneficiaries of the cash which is in categories would get N250,000, N100,000, and 50,000 each, depending on their scale of businesses and farming capabilities.
While the other 1000 households got a bag of rice, sugar, cartons of spaghetti, milk and other condiments.
According to Satomi, the idea of assisting people, especially the vulnerable ones in the society was to reduce the rate of economic hardship and joblessness among youths and women groups, encourage the spirit of self- reliance and wealth creation in the society.
“All I need from the beneficiaries is to put into proper us the donations received and see that they empower themselves and other people through their businesses. This is the aim of the gesture and I urge them to be prudent,” he said.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Executive Chairman of Jere Council, Hon Gujja Tom thanked Satomi for always giving out assistance and supports to members of his constituency, especially at this critical time of needs.
He promised that the monies and items donated would reach all beneficiaries judiciously and timely.
He therefore called on all and sundry to pray for good health and protection of Hon Satomi at all times, even as he said, the people of Jere are highly proud and satisfied with Satomi as their representative at the Lower Chamber.

His Excellency, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, the executive Governor of Yobe state, and APC National Chairman, yesterday, met with a Qatari based consultant Mr. Izid bih El Jouneid and discussed extensively on areas of partnership to improve education and economy of the state.
Izid was accompanied by the state commissioner for Basic Education Dr. Mohammed Sani Idris.
The discussion also considered areas where Non Governmental Organizations could assist the state government to support education in the state.
The governor welcomed the development saying it will complete government efforts in moving education in the state.
He commended the consultant for considering the state for the intervention.
