First Bank seek partnership with Yobe Govt

The management of First Bank of Nigeria Limited, today visited Yobe state Governor and Chairman APC Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee Hon. Mai Mala Buni, seeking partnership to provide and improve financial services to the state.
The Executive Director Public Sector Group of the Bank, Abdullahi M. Ibrahim, said there are vast opportunities to be exploited to improve the finances of the state.
“Although we are not your major bankers but we are collecting 25 per cent of the state lnternally Generated Revenue.
“We also have over 2,000 agents providing banking services across the state and generating employment to the youth, we can still do more” Abdullahi assured.
Gov. Buni directed the State commissioner for finance, Alhaji Musa Mustapha, to liaise with the bank to explore and exploit more opportunities that would be beneficial to the state and the people.
He said as a Bank providing banking services to traders and small scale entrepreneurs in the state government would partner the Bank for increased support to the people of the state.
“Once you will support our local traders and the business community in our state, we are ready for the partnership in the interest of our people” Buni assured.

Executives of the Kano State Chapter, of Market Traders Association of Nigeria, (MATAN), led by the Chairman, Comrade Abba Aminu Imam, paid an advocacy visit to the Chief Executive Officer of Dantata Foods and Allied Products, Alhaji Tajuddeen Aminu Dantata, at his office, located along Club road, Kano. The chairman, assisted by other members, issued a certificate to Alhaji Tajuddeen for his appointment as a patron of MATAN and decorated him accordingly
Parts of the objectives of the visit were to intimate Alhaji Tajuddeen Aminu Dantata on the existence and activities of MATAN, Kano State Chapter. The visit was also meant to seeks his support, explain to him the general missions and visions of the association that can be implemented in the best interest of Kano traders for the enhancement of business activities.
Chairman of the association, Comrade Abba Aminu Imam, who spoke on behalf of executives, told the host that MATAN has appointed him as one of its patrons and member of the advisory council.
The chairman explained that the executives have unanimously approved such appointment in recognition of his patriotism and contributions towards the improvement of business activities both in Kano, Nigeria and the world at large.
The chairman further told Dantata that MATAN has unveiled an effective roadmap for improvement of the general welfare of Kano traders as well as overhaul of business activities.
He equally informed Alhaji Tajuddeen Aminu Dantata that as a strategy to ensure successful and hitch-free implementation of the blueprint, it was designed and categorised on short, medium and long term procedures.
The chairman, equally, declared that the based on the content of the roadmap, MATAN has identified the primary predicaments confronting Kano traders, markets and general business activities and outlined possible solutions.
The chairman informed Alhaji Tajuddeen on the impending non-interest loan that Kano traders will benefit from the Sterling Bank, saying plans have reached an advanced stage for the disbursement of the loans to the eligible registered members.
He therefore, called on Alhaji Tajuddeen to use his wealth of experience, knowledge and business development strategies to offer advice to MATAN on how to move trading forward for the general benefits of Kano traders.
In his response, Alhaji Tajuddeen, expressed delight over the visit and found him worthy for the appointment as patron.
He tasked the executives to embark on vigorous registrations drive to woo more members into the association, saying high number of members is a vital device for the successful implementation of the set goals.
The patron also, promised to use his connections, both within Nigeria and globally to ensure rapid growth of the association.

His Excellency, Hon. Mai Mala Buni,The Executive Governor of Yobe state, has charged the United Bank for Africa (UBA) on execution of corporate social responsibility projects and programmes in the state.
Governor Buni made the call on Wednesday when he received Mr Liadi Ayoku, the Deputy Managing Director of the bank.
He said as a business partner patronised by the state government, the bank should reciprocate the gesture by responding to the needs of the people.
The governor who was represented by the state Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Musa Mustapha, assured that government will continue to conduct transparent business with all partners.
UBA Deputy Managing Director, Mr. Liadi Ayoku, commended Governor Buni for his commitment to developing the state.
He assured the determination of his organization towards a fruitful business partnership with Yobe state government.
Liadi assured that the bank would develop and improve on the corporate social responsibility as demanded by Governor Buni.

The leadership of Youth Wing of Christians Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), Adamawa State chapter has partnered with Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN) and Green Eagles to engage Youth in dry season farming of Rice in the state.
The state Chairman of the Association, Rev. Gabriel L. Shall in a press statement said his leadership is making a collaborative effort in creating much awareness for the youths to leverage on the state’s abundant arable lands across the twenty-one local government areas.
According to him, they are targeting the Youths of Demsa Local Government of the state in a pilot project to later extend the plans to other local governments.
He said the essence of the collaboration is for the youth to fight poverty as they can’t underestimate the importance of Dry season Rice farming which can turn their lives to be more productive and meaningful.
“Dry season rice farming will reduce the gap of unemployment and boost agriculture in Nigeria,” Shall said
He called on Government at all levels to invest and focus more on the youths knowing the fact that they are the economic backbone of every Nation.
While appreciating the representatives of RIFAN, and Green Eagle for the opportunity of engaging Adamawa Youths to Anchor borrowers program and he stressed the need for the Youths to never misuse or play around with the ample privilege given.
“We want to seize the opportunity that RIFAN in Adamawa State wants to move about 10,000 youths into multi-millions Naira ventures in the next two years.
“Let’s mobilize ourselves, let’s proactively take advantage of this opportunity and save ourselves from the quagmire of joblessness,” Gabriel Stated
