Gov. Buni to Build 2600 Affordable Housing Units across Yobe

The Yobe State Government and Family Homes Funds Ltd, a housing finance company, have signed an agreement to construct 2600 housing units across the State, as part of H.E Gov. Mai Mala Buni administration’s policy to provide affordable housing to the people.
The houses, comprising two-bedroom and three-bedroom bungalows, will be built at the total cost of N10, 830, 339, 654.00 with an envisaged completion period of 18 months.
The agreement was signed today at the Yobe Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro Abuja. Solicitor-General at the State Ministry of Justice, Hajiya Hadiza Ibrahim Alkali signed on behalf of the State Government while the Managing Director, Family Homes Funds Ltd, Mr Femi Adewole signed on behalf of his organisation.
Speaking shortly after the agreement was signed, Governor Buni noted that the move reflects the policy of his administration to “provide quality and affordable housing to the people of our state”.
“In line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we believe that affordable housing is a key marker of social progress. When people have comfortable accommodation, they are more likely to have the right frame of mind to engage in meaningful socio-economic activities”, he said.
The governor explained that the houses will be built in different parts of the state so that all parts of the state could benefit from them.
“Accordingly, we will build 500 units in Yobe Zone A with Gaidam and Buni-Yadi Towns each having 250 units. In Zone B, we will construct 250 units in Potiskum and 200 units in Damagum Town of Fune Local Government area. In Zone C, we will cite the houses in Gashu’a Town with 250 units, Nguru with 200 units and Machina with 150 units.
“The State Capital, Damaturu will have 1000 units of the houses. Of this number, 500 will be cited along Potiskum road, 250 along Maiduguri road and the remaining 250 units along Gujba road”, he said.
Governor Buni also revealed that a ground-breaking foundation laying ceremony will be held in Damaturu on 5th September 2019 for the construction of the 2600 housing units.
Family Homes Funds Ltd Managing Director Femi Adewole explained that his company will provide financing and technical support to the Yobe State Government to ensure that the houses are delivered on time and to the right quality according to the agreement reached.
He said that the repayment period for the financing loan is ten years.

A member, Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Joy Emordi, today defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.
Chairman APC Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee and Yobe state Governor, Mai Mala Buni, formally received the senator in a brief ceremony in Abuja.
Sen. Emordi, said she was convinced that the future of a prosperous and united Nigeria lies in the APC.
She described the APC leadership as sincerely and genuinely committed to a united Nigeria that has plans for the future generation.
The legislator assured the party of her loyalty and her supporters to the party “l assure the party of my loyalty and support and to work for the success of the party.”
Sen. Emordi said “the APC led federal government is working for the South East and this is attracting more PDP members into APC.”
The Chairman CECPC Mai Mala Buni, expressed delight with the decision taken by the board member to contribute to the unity of the country.
“There is need for us to join hands for the political stability and national unity of our dear country” he said.
Governor Buni said the coming of Sen. Emordi and other prominent politicians from the South East into the APC will promote national unity.
“The South east is a strong political block and very crucial to the unity of the country, this will mo doubt add to national cohesion ” the Chairman added.

The All Progressive Congress ( APC) in Borno state has peacefully held its ward congresses, as Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state joined others members of his ward , Mafa Central ward of Mafa local government area of Borno state where they elected 27 member ward executives of the party inline with the ongoing ward, local government and state congresses of the party
Addressing the delegates befoe throwing the question, the chairman of the APC Congress committee in Borno state, who is also former Deputy Governor of Taraba state, Alhaji Uba Amadu said ” we are here in Mafa on behalf of APC national headquarters, Abuja to witnessed and monitor the ward congress of our party. We are here to ensure that the congress were conducted in accordance with our party constitution”.
” Our party constitution has allow that the congresses should be done in 3 ways that is, through direct and indirect process, as well as consensus, It could be recalled that the state statutory delegates had last Wednesday agreed that Borno state has opted for consensus.. Today we are here to ensure that what you agreed on is implemented to the later.” Alhaji Anadu added
Those unanimously affirmed through voice votes, as the 27 man Executive of the Mafa central ward of the Mafa local government area were, Alhaji Ali chori, as chairman, Alh Gado Ka’ana as Vice chairman, Alhaji Gada sarki as secretary, Alhaji Babagana Kachalla, treasurer among others executives of the ward.
Speaking in an interview with newsmen in Mafa, shorty after the exercise , Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state called on the APC members in the state to conduct themselves peacefully and be united for the progress of the party, state and the country at large..
“I want to use this opportunity to thank you for conducting yourselves peacefully, we want to also thank the national , state and local government committee for ensuring peaceful congress in Mafa central my ward”, Zulum.
He said ” I want to assure you that APC administration in Borno state under my leadership will continue to provide more dividends of democracy to our people. We are going to establish additional secondary school here in Mafa for our children to go to school, we are also going to train our youths across all wards of the local government, so that they will be engaged “.
As at the time of filing in this reports the ward congresses were going on simultaneously and peacefully in Biu and Hawul local government, as well as other wards across the state

As the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, warms up for its ward Congress on Saturday, the Chairman Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee and Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni has enjoined party stakeholders and members to conduct the exercise peacefully.
In a statement signed Friday night by his Director-General on media and publicity, Mamman Mohammed, Governor Buni called on officials conducting the Congress to be fair and objective to all candidates contesting the election.
“As stakeholders of the party, we have a great responsibility to make the ward Congress in all the participating states successful.
“We should endeavour to place the party and members interest above personal interests,” Buni charged.
The chairman warned that the party would not hesitate to take decisive measures against anyone who deliberately sabotaged the Congress.
“We have come a long way repositioning the party, we have reconciled many groups and individuals, we must not allow personal interests in this election to divide us and draw us back,” he advised.
He expressed the commitment of the committee to entrench internal democracy and respect for the People’s choice.
Governor Buni further said adequate arrangements had been made by the party to conduct successful and acceptable congresses across the country.
