Gov. Buni visits Maiduguri to commensurate with Governor Zulum over the attack on his convoy

The Yobe state Governor, Alhaji Mai Mala Buni was in Msiduguri to commensurate with the Governor, Babagana Zulum of Borno state, the government and people of the state over the recent Boko Haram attack on his convoy that resulted to the killing of over 12 gallant security operatives.
While commensurating with Governor Babagana Zulum at the Government House, Maiduguri on Tuesday, Governor Buni said ” I am here on behalf of myself, the government and good people of Yobe state, I am here to commensurate with you over the recent unfortunate attack on your convoy where many gallant security operatives were killed.”
” We are with you in prayers. I want to assure you that you have the prayers and support of all Nigerians. This is a trail, as a leader one must face such challenges from time to time,. You should not be detected , your efforts in ensuring peace and resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons ( IDPs) will surely succeed”, he added.
He urged him not to relent , as Nigerians are with him in support and prayers and that surely the insurgency will soon be a thing of the past.
Governor Buni said ” I believed one thing one cannot take away from you is your commitment to the service of your people. Borno was the epicenter of Boko Haram insurgency at time Borno experienced bomb blast more than two to three times a day but thank God this is over. By the grace of God very soon all these will be thing of the past”.
Responding, Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state thanked the governor for the visit, saying that ” I want to use this opportunity to convey our deep appreciation to you, the Executive Governor, of Yobe state for coming to commensurate with us at this trying moment”..
” The relationship between Borno and Yobe state cannot be over emphasized. Any time there is an event or happening in this state you always identify with us. I want to assure you that the government and people of Borno state will always identify with you in what ever you are doing we will support you in whatever you are doing both at state and national levels”, Governor Zulum added.

In it’s efforts to revamp the education sector, following over decade long insurgency, the Borno state government has commissioned two Mega schools at Ajilari and Zannari Abuja Sheraton communities, of Jere and Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC) local government areas of the state,.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony of the schools in Maiduguri on Monday, the Borno state Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum said “as you are all aware that the Mega schools with the capacity of 30 classroom each were constructed within our 100 days in office. This was as a result of a request by the people of Ajilari and Zannari to me during my familiarization tour to the areas to see things for myself”.
” Today, I am very proud to commission the said projects and feel fulfilled for redeeming my pledge to these communities in view of their long yearnings and aspirations for a community school”, the governor added.
Governor Zulum said ” this is inline with our commitment in revamping education as a top priority in almost a decade of insurgency. In this connection, you may recall that the ministry of education and ministry of Higher education was allocated the lion share in the 2020 budget and this will continue in the 2021 fiscal year, In-shaa Allah”.
He said “the government is handing over the school to the community and the community is expected to run the school through a committee within the community, while government would pay teachers salary through education trust fund on monthly basis through grant to the school. In addition to this, Government is determined to maintain and sustain the school in close collaboration with community efforts for the best interests of this generation and generation yet unborn.”
He appealed to the community leaders to ensure that they send their Wards to school to compliment the efforts of government for a greater Borno that we hope to see in no distance time.
Earlier speaking, the Executive Secretary of the Borrno State Education Trust Fund, Alhaji Maina Yaumi said” we are gathered here this morning to witness the commissioning ceremony of 30 classrooms Mega school at Zannari community school. The idea of a community run school was perceived by his Excellency and the concept was well accepted”
” Following your directive in 16th December, 2019, We approached the two communities of Zannari and Ajilari and come up with appropriate conditions of service, population size of the schools and the number of staff to be recruited . In doing so, we equally engaged seasoned Education Administrators, who are also members of the communities to oversee the implementation of the curriculum, he added.
He said the schools will operate as coeducation day School, the catchment area for admission and enrollment will be for the community and it’s surrounding localities., 9 years basic education, adding that the school will have 24 teaching and non teaching staff.
He further stated that the school will have N13, 680,000 as a running cost per session, adding that the government has graciously approved the quarterly payments of N3, 420,000 to each school

The Borno state government is to award the contract for the the dualization of 10 kilometers Of Customs roundabout to Muna Garsge along the International route of Msiduguri Gsmboru road at the cost of N5 billion wihin the Maiduguri metropolis.
Governor,Babagana Zulum said the dualization of 10 kilometers Of Customs roundabout to Muna Garage along the International route of Maiduguri Gamboru road will cost the government the sum of N5 billion.
Governor Babagana Zulum disclosed while commissioning the newly constructed Moromoro road and Bridge in Maiduguri on Monday after inaugurating Mega community schools.
Governor Zulum who announced the dualization of 10km customs-Muna road, a commercial routes along Maiduguri-Mafa-Dikwa road. said the project will be executed at a cost of 5 billion naira, to begin in the next 15 days. The dualized road will connect to Borno’s first flyover which is actively being constructed by a chinese firm around the customs round that had been congested for many years.
It could be recalled early this year the governor approved the construction of first ever over head bridge in the Northeast at the Customs area at cost over N4.5 billion Naira.
The dualization of the toad when completed will ease traffic along the busy Maiduguri Gamboru commercial international route.

The Wife of the Borno state Governor, Dr Falmata Babagana Zulum has solicited for a greater collaboration and awareness in the fight against breast cancer and cancer in general in the state and country at large.
Mrs Falmata Zulum made the call while inaugurating a cancer campaign at the Multipurpose Hall of the Government House in Maiduguri said that the campaign tagged:”2020 Breast Awareness Campaign”, is part of her pet project, Multi-Aid and Charity Initiative, (MAC Initiative), a Non Government Organisation, aimed at creating awareness on cancer to rural women in the state.
”The aim of our gathering here today, bearing in mind this year’s theme is to give hope and save Lives” was a reminder that we all are in this together to protect the most vulnerable by educating and encauraging them to go for cancer screening using Mammography.”, She added.
the governor’s wife said “this campaign had for a long time been catalyst for many countries to increase resources for research and treatment giving many women and their families renewed hope and a new lease of life,”
She lamented that limited access to early detection, diagnosis and treatment of this deadly disease is important in curbing the spread of the disease, saying that “Women in most part of the country are likely to be diagnosed only at late stage of breast cancer where the disease had spread to other organs.”
“Vulnerable and those living below poverty line particularly those living in rural areas are less abled to access medical services making them to be of great risk of contracting the disease.”, She further stressed.
Mrs Zulum appealed to all to inculcate and imbibed the culture of regular medical checkup so that emerging problems are detected and treated at the onset of disease, adding that the humanitarian organisation had invited health personnel’s to conduct free and voluntary preliminary screening to the women and girls at the occasion.
The First Lady also encouraged other well-meaning individuals to support patients diagnosed with cancer in the society.
Earlier, speaking the Borno state Commisioner for Health, Dr Salisu Kwayabura,represented by his Permanent Secretary, Dr Muhammed Guluze, said that 500,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer annually and that the state government will work with international and local NGO promoting early cancer detection and treatment .
“It is in line with this that the government introduced a lot of services in our various healthcare institutions to ensure early detection and treatment.
“We have the screening facilities in the State Specialist Hospital and Maryam Abacha Hospital and other Primary Health Care Hospitals across the state,”he said.
He called on women to always take the issues of their health seriously.
