Gov. Zulum Flags off free maternal healthcare services to pregnant women in Borno,, commissions Wulari PHC facility
– as he presents keys of 3 bedroom flats to 81 resident doctors

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state has flagged off Free Health Care service to pregnant women in the state, as he commissioned 30 beds Wulari Primary Healthcare Facility in efforts to ensue safe child delivery across the state.
While launching the Free maternal services/ commissioning the Wulari Primary Healthcare Facility at the Wulari PHC, Maiduguri on Friday, Governor Babagana Zulum said ” it is my singular honour and privilege to launch free maternal services and free drugs to pregnant women and the commissioning of Wulari Primary Healthcare Centre of the Maiduguri metropolis.”.
Governor Zulum said over N900 million has been released for a Drug Revolving Fund in which over N300 million was meant for Free maternal drugs and urged pregnant women to made themselves available for the services.
” Healthcare delivery is one of the 10 pact agenda of my administration and 25 year Development Plan, within the three years of my administration we were able to construct and equipped
over 200 Health care facilities and employed over 100 doctors, 600 Nurses and Midwives, 150 Healthcare workers among others”, Zulum added.
He said ” it could be recalled that during my campaign promises, I came and saw this place was occupied by miscreants and I promised to construct a PHC here and thanked God today we are witnessing the commissioning of the 30 beds Primary Healthcare facility”.
The Governor urged the members of the community to go out en-mass to obtained to vite the APC government for more dividends of democracy, stressing that government is doing a lot to rebuild back the state.
On the issue of power, Governor Zulum said government is doing everything possible to complete the ingoing 50 Megawatts, Maiduguri Gas Power plant before the end of the year,, repairs the damaged Electricity Tower and double circuit, Maiduguri Damaturu line.
Earlier in, earlier, the Borno state commissioner for Health and Human Services, Prof. Mohammed Arab said ” the health sector under your able leadership has witness tremendous transforms, with the construction of over 200 Healthcare facilities, 10 General Hospitals, recruitment of 100 doctors, 150 nurses and midwives,and over 200 health workers if different profession’s, as well as engaged over 200 retired nurses inline with 10 point agenda of the administration “.
Speaking on behalf of the benefiting community, Comrade, Zannah Shettima thanked the governor for providing dividends of democracy go the community, we were lucky to be beneficiaries of roads, Primary Healthcare Centre and free maternal services and drugs.
While assuring the Governor that the co unity will make good use if the facility, Zannah said the community will participate in ensuring the sustainability of the facility.
In a related development, the Governor has also presented key of 3 bedrooms with N1 million Naira cash to 84 medical doctors to finish the houses located in at the Doctors Estimate as incentives to attract more doctors to the state.
Presenting the keys to the medical doctors, Governor, Professor Babagana handed over 81 units of three-bedrooms apartments along with cheques worth a total of N79m to 81 resident medical doctors including the family of a medical doctor abducted in Gubio town, the headquarters of Gubio local government area.
Each of the doctors was given a tastefully built flat at a quarters specifically built for doctors in 13 blocks of two-storey buildings with each block having six flats. quarters was fully fenced, landscaped, flowered and provided with sporting facilities and playground.
The 13 blocks at the quarters have combined number of 78 flats while another story building sited at Muhammadu Shuwa memorial hospital has three additional flats, making 81 flats.
79 out of the 81 benefiting doctors were presented with a cheques worth N1m as furniture support , while two out of the 81 flats were fully furnished.
Governor Zulum while speaking to the wife of the abducted doctors, consoled her and assured her that government is doing everything possible to rescued her husband safe and healthy and hope to one day reunite with her husband.
It could be recalled Gaidam was abducted on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 in Gubio, where he was serving as principal medical officer of the General Hospital.
The Governor assured all the 81 doctors who benefitted that government will make some efforts to support them in powering a standby generator installed for the quarters.
He however urged the doctors to form a residents’ association through which they can make contributions to find ways of sustaining facilities at the estate, and enhancing their communal safety.
