His Excellency Hon.Mai Mala Buni, CON. The executive Governor of Yobe State has on Thursday flagged off the construction of 54 kilometers of Ngalda to Mutai Road project sponsored by the North East Development Commission (NEDC) in the Fika Local Government Area of the State.
In his address, Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni said, “You will recall that on 16/12/2020, I flagged off the construction of phase 1 of the Gujba-Ngalda Road covering Gujba-Mutai been executed through the MCRP but was unfortunately visited by ugly insurgency attacks. Alhamdulillah for the now improved situation and the steady progress of work on the road”.
“Today, we are here to flag-off the phase II of the project which covers Ngalda-Mutai and it will be executed by the North- East Development Commission (N.E.D.C)”.
The construction of this road would open up the rich agriculturally endowed communities, and facilitate easy movement of people, goods and services to stimulate more agricultural, commercial and economic activities in the benefitting communities. This project is therefore a commendable drive by the North-East Development Commission which conforms to our development pursuit in the State. Such complementary interventions would certainly go a long way in impacting positively on the lives of our people”.
He added “Let me also appreciate other efforts of the North- East Development Commission for the construction of the 500 mass housing units across the State, the distribution of relief materials to victims of insurgency and disasters; training on smartphone repairs and computer graphics design and the distribution of starter packs and startup capital to over 330 youth; provision of fertilizers and other agricultural inputs to the most vulnerable farmers across the State; COVID-19 interventions with Ambulances, palliatives. Molecular laboratory and preventive materials distributed to schools, security agencies and transport workers, among others.
