The Nigerian Army has again banned a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO), naned ADRA Nigeria from providing humanitarian assistance to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).in the Northeast

Speaking to newsmen at the headquaters of the theater command on Friday. the theater commander. major General Olusegun Adeniyi said ” yes we banned another NGO ADRA Nigeria from operating in the Northeast, because they were operating without register’.

” We banned the ADRA Nigeria from providing humanitarian assistance in the Northeast, because their licence had expired since 31 December, 2019. They have not register NSA and the Borno state government. We have arrested their staff and handed them down to the police for further investigation and prosecution “, General Adeniyi further stressed

He said ” If anything happened to them, we will be blame for allowing them to.operate without license. If they want to operate they should go and register with the NSA and the Borno government “.

He assured the general public. Particularly the NGO and the IDPs that any duely registered NGO will not only be allow to work but be given ssecurity.

Military recaptured Marte from Boko Haram /ISWAP terrorists, scores killed

The troops of the Operation Lafiya Dole of the Nigerian Army have recovered Marte and adjoining communities from Boko Haram terrorists. barely less than 48 hours ultimatum given to them by the Chief of Army staff, (COAS), Major General Ibrahim Attahiru

The spokesman of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Mohammed Yerima in a statement issued to newsmen said “the troops of Nigerian Army this afternoon around 3pm, recovered New Marte and adjoining communities from the develish Boko Haram terrorists.”.

This is coming less than the 48 hours directive earlier given to the troops to recover the town by the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru.

“The troops backed by air cover from the Nigerian Air force , successfully charged through Marte town, destroying several Improvised Explosive Device (IEDs) and landmines laced across their routes and killing scores of Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists and successfully recovered the town.”, General Yerima stated.

The Army further said the gallant troops are currently in total control of the general area. and that details will be made to newsmen very soon.

Ten persons were killed, while about 50 others injured when Boko Haram fired a Rocket Propelled Grenade ( RPG) at Kaleri area at the outskirts of Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, as they tried to infiltrate the city.

The insurgents who came at about 6:10 pm on Tuesday and tried to infiltrate, Maiduguri fired several Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) that landed in Gwange, Kaleri that injured 60 persons among whom 10 died.

Confirming the number of the casaulties in an interview with journalists when he visited the victims of the attack at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), and the State Specialist Hospital on Wednesday after Boko Haram fighters fired RPGs the Borno state Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum said that 10 residents died and about 50 injured in the Tuesday’s stacked.

“Indeed it is a very sad moment for the people and government of Borno state, about 60 persons were affected, among them, 10 have died. It was as a result of long distance shots fired by the insurgents”, he said.

He further said ” I believe this is a new trend we have to raise up and stop. We experienced a similar incident exactly one year ago. The solution is to deploy an appropriate form of technology, which will have to work on. I share the pains of all those affected but we are not just visiting hospitals, we do so much behind the scene in our combined responses to the Boko Haram insurgency and we will keep making these and more efforts”.

The insurgents RPGs were fired , from Kaleri, an outskirts of Maiduguri, but our correspondents reports that grenades traveled to hit Gwange and Adam kolo communities, both densely populated areas in the inner city. Most of the death occurred in Gwange. One of the RPG shots, hit a children’s play ground in Gwange, it was also gathered.

The governor who visited the State Specialist Hospital, and the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, both in Maiduguri to sympathize with the victims of the attacks was told that some of the victims had sustained various degrees of injuries and were being treated, for which he directed that the state ministry of health shoulders the bills.

While speaking on the Tuesday’s recapturing of Marte by the military, Governor Zulum said he was not just pleased but also optimistic that the Nigerian military will work had to retain, continue its peace-building and stability efforts in ways that should ensure the insurgents do not take Marte again, or any part of the state.

“I am optimistic that the insurgents will not take over Marte again” Zulum said.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Major General Ibrahim Attahiru has given 48 hours ultimatum to the troops of the Nigerian Army deployed to Operation Lafiya Dole to clear Matte, Kirenuwa, kirta, Wulgo, Chikingudo areas of Marte, Ngala local government areas of Borno state from Boko Haram .

General Ibrahim Attahiru who gave the ultimatum while addressing the troops of the Nigerian Army Super camp 9, Dikwa on Sunday said ” areas around Marte, Chikingudo, Wulgo kirenuwa and kirta must be cleared in the next 48 hours. You should be rest assured of all support you required in this very onerous task”.

” I have just spoken to the theater Commander, and the General Officer Commanding 7 Division, you must not let this nation down. Go back and do the needful and I will be right behind you”, General Attahiru added.

He said ” you are aware of the recent attack on Dikwa and Marte, you should not allow this to happen again , go after them and clear these bastards”.

While appreciating the efforts of the troops in the fight against Boko Haram, the COAS said ” I am here to deliver the greetings of Mr President and Commander In Chief of the Armed forces I have spoken with your commanders and the theater command we are going to provide you the equipment and weapons you need to end this war. We are also going to address the issue of over stay in the theater. No more issue of over stay”.

Addressing the residents of Dikwa, the Army Chief said ” I want to assure you that we are going to protect you, not only that we are going to clear Marte, Kirenuwa, Wulgo, Kirta and their environs. What we need from you is your cooperation and prayers..”

It could be recalled that the COAS arrived Maiduguri on an operational visit since yesterday and today was in Dikwa Army Super camp 9 to boost the moral of troops.
