Operation Puff Adder, Borno Police arrested 68 suspects, for kidnapping, Terrorism, Armed Robbery, Theft and others

In line of the Inspectir General of Police, IGP, Mohammed Adamu to eliminate crime and criminality acrosd the country and the ongoing Operation Puff Adder, the Borno state police command has arrested 68 suspects for various crimes.

Parading the suspects,at the Police headquarters. Maiduguri on Friday the Borno state commissioner of Police, Mohammed Nadatsu said the 68 suspects were arrested for various crimes ranging from Kidnapping, terrorism, theft, Armed robbery, fraudster, car snatching, culpable homocide among others.

“ACT OF TERRORISM (SARS): On 1/6/2019 at about 1000hrs, one Ali Ibrahim a notorious member of the Boko Haram sect who participated in several, attacks on security locations in Nigeria and Cameroun Republic was arrested by the police at Dikwa low-cost Maiduguri. Suspect during investigation, confessed to have followed his members in many attacks on security locations and carted away their weapons. He claimed to have escaped from one of their camps in Cameroun republic after denouncing membership., the Cp said.

Badatsu said, similarly one Umar Abatcha who is also a notorious member of the Boko Haram sect who later escaped to Lagos and subsequently returned to Maiduguri was arrested at Bulabulin by the police on sighting him. Suspect on interrogation confessed membership and claimed that he returned to Maiduguri thinking that nobody will recognise him again.”

He further stated thst “on 13/6/2019 and 19/6/2019, one (1) are notorious in going to the bush to buy cattle from members of the Boko Haram sect who robbed or stole them from innocent members of the public were busted by SARS operatives. One female cow and two calves bought from the Boko Haram members were recovered from them. Investigation towards arresting their colleagues in crime is being intensified.”..

On suspected kidnapers the Cp said “Between 9/6/2019 and 13/6/2019 the following persons were arrested at Shani General Area by combine teams of Policemen from SARS and Divisional Headquarters, Shani for Terrorising innocent members of the public at the Shani axis through series of kidnapping. Investigation towards ascertaining their culpability is being investigated. ”

According to the Cp, the suspected kidnappers are Adamu Saidu, Adamu Isa, Ka’ana Buba, Hiba Adamu, Dago Grema, Ngura Saidu, Bello Jungudo
Bayo Adam and Ilu Hassan.

“: On 9/5/2019 at about 0300hrs, one
Musa Bello and Mustapha Shettima both of Maiduguri metropolis who have severally robbed many people in the Maiduguri metropolis and evaded arrest were arrested by SARS operations after attempting to Rob one Mohammed Ibrahim of Shuwari II Maiduguri of his handset while armed with dangerous weapons,” the police boss said.

While speaking on possession of illegal arms, Mr Nadatsu said “On 8/6/2019 at about 1100hrs, a case of being in-possession of fire arms was transferred from Divisional Police Headquarters UBA to this department. That on 3/6/2019 at about 1130hrs, one Yohanna Ijai ‘m’ a member of vigilante group attached to Dille village in Askira UBA L.G.A was on his way to Dille village from Taban village in Askira with 2 AK-47 locally made rifle with eight live cartridge which was packed inside a sack bag being conveyed on motor cycle Bajaj to Dille, on the process of repairing the motor cycle was intercepted by some police men on duty who conducted a search on him and found the firearms where he hid them, Case presently under investigation.

“The sacrifice made by these brave heroes shall never be in vain” assured.

” Government will not be deterred by such attacks from executing programmes and policies in the interest of the people of the state” he said.

The governor assured his administration’s commitment to always work together with security agencies to safeguard lives and property of the citizenry.

Gov. Buni commiserates with Emir of Fika over Fire Outburst

His Excellency, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, The Executive Governor of Yobe state, has on Monday commiserated with the Emir of Fika and Chairman Yobe state Council of chiefs, Alh. Muhammadu Abbali ibn Muhammadu Idrisa, over unfortunate fire incident at the Palace.

Governor Buni described the fire inferno that consumed a chamber at the Palace as a great loss to the emir, the Emirate and the state.

“l am deeply saddened by the sad news of the fire incident today at the palace of His Highness, the Emir of Fika.

“However, we are all consoled and give thanks to Almighty Allah that no life was lost nor injuries recorded” he said.

The governor asked the Emir to have faith that this was destined to happen at this moment and prayed that it never happen again.

Democracy Day: Borno NUJ applauds Governor Zulum for executing 556 projects in 741 days

The Borno state chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ had applauded the Borno State Government under the leadership of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum for executing 556 projects within 741 days in office.

The NUJ in a statement jointly signed by its chairman Bulama Talba and it’s Secretary, Mohammed Ibrahim said ‘”indeed this feat has no doubt justified the NUJ award in 2019 conferred on Governor Zulum as the Most Promising First Time Governor in the Country as well as other awards and recognitions within and outside Borno State due to the numerous peoples oriented projects on the ground.”

“As the Government and citizens celebrate democracy day the Union salutes their courage and resilience as well as never dying spirit which has gradually contributed to the restoration of peace in more communities with sustained programmes and prayers that should be further complemented with useful information to security operatives whom we expect to deal a final blow to end the insurgency bedevilling our dear state, the union stated.

The NUJ said “we appeal to the State Government to see reason to improve the processes of resettlement of IDPs to their original communities as well as the review the cases of local government civil servants affected by the ongoing verification by re-engaging them.”

The statement further said “We remind the public to be rest assured that all of the working journalists in Borno State remain ever dedicated to continuously push our pen to promote the interests and image of the State towards the full revival of its glory by the will of the Almighty Allah, Happy democracy day.’,
