Post insurgency rebuilding plan, BOSG unveils 25 years Development Plan

In it’s efforts to fast track the economic recovery and rebuilding process in the state ravaged by the decade Long Boko Haram insurgency , the Borno state government has unveiled a 25 year Development Plan and 10 years strategic transformation initiative for the stabilization and economic recovery of the state from the over a decade long insurgency.

While unveiling at the launching of the 25 year Development Plan and 10 years strategic transformation Initiative held at the Multipurpose Hall of the Government house, Maiduguri, the Borno state Governor, Prof Babagana Zulum said “Today represents a unique milestone in the history of the development of Borno State. Today represents the triumph of hope over hopelessness, confidence over pessimism and optimism over despondency.”

‘*Today Borno State is standing, once again, on the threshold of history, ready to mobilize all resources at its disposal to overcome life’s enduring challenges. Indeed, the history of Borno, like the history of all great civilizations, has been characterized by challenges and the victories in surmounting these challenges. The enduring spirit of hope and faith has always fired our survival instinct and unleashed the intrinsic strength needed to surmount these challenges.”, Governor Zulum added.

Governor Zulum called on the international community and well meaning citizens of state to key into the rebuilding process of the state government.,adding that the development plan was bulit on 5 driving pillars of Human Capital Development, Leadership in Agriculture, Healthy Citizenry, Sustainable Environment and Regional Trade Hub.

He said that the enabling pillars also include Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement, Purposeful Infrastructure, Accountability and Governance as well as Peace and Security adding that his administration committed to relocate and close down all IDPs camps in Maiduguri before May 2021.

United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator Edward Kallon represented by Head of Unicef Mr Peter Hawkins promised sustained support of United Nations and International Community towards success of the Development plan.

Also speaking at the occasion, the Ministers of Communication – Pantami, Finance – Zainab, and former Governor Kashim Shettima, took turns to pay glowing tribute to Governor Zulum, recognizing his bold vision for Borno. Shettima asked participants to rise and give Zulum a standing ovation, which was happily done.

In his welcome address, the Secretary to Borno Government, Usman Jidda Shuwa, and Chief of Staff, Prof. Isa Hussaini Marte, in their separate remarks to welcome, and thank guests, both affirmed the commitment of stakeholders at the executive level, to actualizing Zulum’s lofty goals for Borno.

The Ministers of Communication and Digital Economy, Finance, Budget and Economic Planning and that of Humanitarian Affairs, as well as members of the National Assembly among other stakeholders attended the ceremony.

Qatar Government pledges support For Yobe state

The state of Qatar has pledged to support Yobe state government in building infrastructure across the state.

The Ambassador to the State of Qatar, Abdulaziz Mubarak Al-Muhamadi, stated this on Friday when Governor Mai Mala Buni paid him a courtesy visit.

Al-Muhamadi said Qatar would construct schools, clinics and water facilities among others to complement government efforts to improve the lives of the people.

“The state of Qatar will support your government to improve the lives of your people with befitting facilities” he assured.

The Ambassador said the State of Qatar would also consider direct flight from Qatar to Yobe state through the Damaturu International cargo airport when completed to support direct investment into the state.

Governor Buni said Yobe state government would provide the necessary support for the partnership to succeed.

“This opportunity will support our programme and focus on infrastructural and economic development in the state” Buni said.

BORNO FEDERAL LAWMAKER, HON. SATOMI  EMPOWERS 250 YOUTHS, WOMEN WITH N25 MILLION CASH, AS 1000 OTHERS GETS FOOD ITEMS

Member House of Representatives, Jere federal constituency in Borno state, Hon. Ahmed Satomi has on Wednesday shared a total of N25 million to 250 beneficiaries, even as about 1000 vulnerable groups got food items.

Just yesterday Satomi distributed food items to over 700 widows, mostly whose husbands were killed by Boko Haram sect in the constituency.

Recalled that the Lawmaker had recently doled out N47 million to better the lives of his people and make them economically self -reliant in this period of Ramadan fasting.

Speaking while distributing the monies and relief items to his electorate in Maiduguri, the lawmaker said apart from this gesture, he will ensure that dividends of democracy and inclusive representation achieved across all the political wards in the constituency.

He said, the beneficiaries of the cash which is in categories would get N250,000, N100,000, and 50,000 each, depending on their scale of businesses and farming capabilities.

While the other 1000 households got a bag of rice, sugar, cartons of spaghetti, milk and other condiments.

According to Satomi, the idea of assisting people, especially the vulnerable ones in the society was to reduce the rate of economic hardship and joblessness among youths and women groups, encourage the spirit of self- reliance and wealth creation in the society.

“All I need from the beneficiaries is to put into proper us the donations received and see that they empower themselves and other people through their businesses. This is the aim of the gesture and I urge them to be prudent,” he said.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Executive Chairman of Jere Council, Hon Gujja Tom thanked Satomi for always giving out assistance and supports to members of his constituency, especially at this critical time of needs.

He promised that the monies and items donated would reach all beneficiaries judiciously and timely.

 He therefore called on all and sundry to pray for good health and protection of Hon Satomi at all times, even as he said, the people of Jere are highly proud and satisfied with Satomi as their representative at the Lower Chamber.

Development: Gov. Buni meets Qatari Consultant on partnership

His Excellency, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, the executive Governor of Yobe state, and APC National Chairman, yesterday, met with a Qatari based consultant Mr. Izid bih El Jouneid and discussed extensively on areas of partnership to improve education and economy of the state.

Izid was accompanied by the state commissioner for Basic Education Dr. Mohammed Sani Idris.

The discussion also considered areas where Non Governmental Organizations could assist the state government to support education in the state.

The governor welcomed the development saying it will complete government efforts in moving education in the state.

He commended the consultant for considering the state for the intervention.
