The former Senate Leader and the Senator representing Southern Borno, Senator Mohammed Ndume had empowered thousands of farmers, traders and youths in the senatorial zone in his efforts to curb poverty and create employment to the people of his constituency,

Flagging off the empowerment scheme which was aimed at reducing poverty and youth empowerment at the government Lodge Biu, the headquarters of Biu local government area of the state,the Borno state Deputy Governor, Alhaji Umar Usman Kadafur commended the selfless and relentless effort of senator Mohammed Ali Ndume in promoting youth empowerment and economic growth of the state.

The Deputy Governor expressed optimistic that such Humanitarian gesture would go a long way in post insurgency recovery process that will lead to job creation and other services for the well being of the people.

Alhaji Kadafur urged the beneficiaries to put in good use the items into proper, and see the opportunity as a means to attend an enviable level of prosperity in their lives.

While speaking at the occasion, the senator representing Southern Borno, ,Senator Mohammed Ndume said the era of political thuggery is over and the need for youth to engage in farming activities or skill acquisition programmes to be self reliant is necessary.

According to him, one thousand youth has been selected across the 9 local government under his zone to benefit from the distribution of fertiliser and improved variety of seeds .

Other categories of people selected randomly from the zone, are one thousand women , one thousand students, one thousand small scale business men , one thousand from young farmers empowerment and one thousand from women empowerment programmes and each person is given a token amount of ten thousand naira respectively.

Senator Ndume urged the beneficiaries to make maximum use of the opportunity to be self-reliant and sustained their businesses meant to improve their livelihood.
In their separate good will messages

The empowerment programmes was in six categories presented to nine local governments in southern Borno,comprises of , Farmers which includes 5 trucks of fertilisers and 2 trucks of maize seeds improve variety,young farmers empowerment programme, presented with 3 trucks of fertiliser and one truck of maize seeds while the 1000 small traders presented with ten million Naira cheque.

One thousand students also presented with ten million naira cheque support programme, 1000 women were also presented with ten million naira cheque as empowerment support and 1000 youth were also presented with ten million naira cheque as empowerment support.

In their separate good will messages the representatives of Emir’s of Biu and Shani commended senator Ali Ndume for the empowerment scheme and the beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunity.

Speaking on behalf of the benefitting local governments the chairman Kwaya kusar local government Mr Samson Dibal thank the senator for the timely intervention and assures judicious distribution of the items to the beneficiaries.

The All Progressive Congress ( APC) in Borno state has peacefully held its ward congresses, as Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state joined others members of his ward , Mafa Central ward of Mafa local government area of Borno state where they elected 27 member ward executives of the party inline with the ongoing ward, local government and state congresses of the party

Addressing the delegates befoe throwing the question, the chairman of the APC Congress committee in Borno state, who is also former Deputy Governor of Taraba state, Alhaji Uba Amadu said ” we are here in Mafa on behalf of APC national headquarters, Abuja to witnessed and monitor the ward congress of our party. We are here to ensure that the congress were conducted in accordance with our party constitution”.

” Our party constitution has allow that the congresses should be done in 3 ways that is, through direct and indirect process, as well as consensus, It could be recalled that the state statutory delegates had last Wednesday agreed that Borno state has opted for consensus.. Today we are here to ensure that what you agreed on is implemented to the later.” Alhaji Anadu added

Those unanimously affirmed through voice votes, as the 27 man Executive of the Mafa central ward of the Mafa local government area were, Alhaji Ali chori, as chairman, Alh Gado Ka’ana as Vice chairman, Alhaji Gada sarki as secretary, Alhaji Babagana Kachalla, treasurer among others executives of the ward.

Speaking in an interview with newsmen in Mafa, shorty after the exercise , Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state called on the APC members in the state to conduct themselves peacefully and be united for the progress of the party, state and the country at large..

“I want to use this opportunity to thank you for conducting yourselves peacefully, we want to also thank the national , state and local government committee for ensuring peaceful congress in Mafa central my ward”, Zulum.

He said ” I want to assure you that APC administration in Borno state under my leadership will continue to provide more dividends of democracy to our people. We are going to establish additional secondary school here in Mafa for our children to go to school, we are also going to train our youths across all wards of the local government, so that they will be engaged “.

As at the time of filing in this reports the ward congresses were going on simultaneously and peacefully in Biu and Hawul local government, as well as other wards across the state

APC Congress: Buni calls for peaceful exercise, warns against sabotage

As the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, warms up for its ward Congress on Saturday, the Chairman Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee and Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni has enjoined party stakeholders and members to conduct the exercise peacefully.

In a statement signed Friday night by his Director-General on media and publicity, Mamman Mohammed, Governor Buni called on officials conducting the Congress to be fair and objective to all candidates contesting the election.

“As stakeholders of the party, we have a great responsibility to make the ward Congress in all the participating states successful.

“We should endeavour to place the party and members interest above personal interests,” Buni charged.

The chairman warned that the party would not hesitate to take decisive measures against anyone who deliberately sabotaged the Congress.

“We have come a long way repositioning the party, we have reconciled many groups and individuals, we must not allow personal interests in this election to divide us and draw us back,” he advised.

He expressed the commitment of the committee to entrench internal democracy and respect for the People’s choice.

Governor Buni further said adequate arrangements had been made by the party to conduct successful and acceptable congresses across the country.

Party congress, APC stakeholders in Borno adopts consensus process

The stakeholders of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Borno state has adopted a concensus method in the forthcoming state congresses of the party, with option for the the stakeholders to adopt any process at the ward and local government congress.

Moving the motion for the adoption of the consensus approach, the state Deputy Governor, Hon Umar Kadafur said ” I hereby move the motion for the adoption of consensus method in our forthcoming party state Congress”

Seconding the motion, the former member House of representative, representing Hawul/Askira Federal constituency, Hon Abdu Msheliza said ” I Hon. Abdu Musa Msheliza seconded the motion for the adoption of consensus in our state party congress”.


Earlier addressing the party statutory congress, the Borno state Governor Prof. Baba gana Zulum said “we call you here in respect of our party congresses which is scheduled to come up this coming Saturday, 31 July 2021.. Our party constitution has allow us to adopt either consensus, indirect or direct congresses or primaries. So we are here to throw the issue to the congress for you to decide which method for us to adopt.”.

“We have seen a situation where election are being nullified because of irregularities in the process of party primaries and congresses. So we are here to adopt one of the options for our party congresses”, the governor added.

Throwing the motion to the party stakeholders, the party chairman, Hon Ali Dalori said ” those in support of the motion, should yea and those against should say neh” . The stakeholders unanimously agreed on the consensus congress, with no descending voice.

Speaking in an interview with journalists shortly after the stakeholders meeting, former Borno state Governor, Senator Kashim Shettima said ” the bedrock of the party is the constitution, the APC constitution has allow us to adopt a process through which the party structure emerges. The whole things is to arrived at transparent, equity and just congress that is acceptable to all.. we resolved as a patty as a family, as a clan and as a team to adopt consensus”.

” We have also urge our party leaders at the local government levels to adopt consensus but in case they opted to adopt ballot or any other .so be it, it is welcome. .so that all segment of our party should have a voice as enshrine in our party constitution” he added

Also speaking in an interview, the Senator Representing Borno South, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume said ” all those you see here are statutory delegates and they came across all the local government areas. It is a boton up decision, you were there it was a unanimous decision, there were no descending voice. Our party constitution has allow for 3 options, that consensus, indirect and direct process of primaries and congresses”
