The Love for Buni
“Buni alherine, Buni alherine,” gashinan, gashinan, the two young men, raised their hands in solidarity with Gov. Buni’s clenched fist. You could see clearly wonderment and fulfillment in their eyes.
It was in Gashua during the grand reception organised in honor of the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan and commissioning of Gashua Ultra-Modern market by Gov. Buni on Saturday, 3rd Septmber, 2022.
As he waved at the tumultuous crowd, the two young men were eager to come close, perhaps for the first time in their lives to meet their governor. And so great was their satisfaction, their pure joy, that they began to sing “Buni alherine”.
That is the kind of emotion that courses across the nook and crannies of Yobe state
when they behold their governor, the blessed man (Buni alherine), the man of compassion, a generous man that willingly offers what he has. He wants to share, and it shows. One who you will always like to meet. The man who loves them, and they love and trust in return.
Why do they love Buni? Or better still, why do we love Buni? The old, the young, men, women, boy, girl, the strong, the infirm. Why do we love Buni? For many reasons.
I have said it before, and say it again. It will take a while before Yobe will see another political leader with such ability to pull an unsolicited and uninduced crowd like Buni. Anywhere he goes, its crowd that will greet him. They turn out in their numbers to see and hear him because he is a blessing to the State.
Why?
Many reasons. He is a generous man. A man who is a true giving and flowing in ideas and vision to transform the state. Gov. Buni is an all-time giver who is ready to display generousity at all time when it bothers on human capital development. Whenever anyone tells him that someone needs a help, he graciously extend his hands of help for the man. That was true of Buni.
A young man sends him a message through WhatsApp that his wife was in admission in a Hospital, Buni did not know him but all what he asked for is his account details. Within minutes Boom M500,000 was send to him. Such a generous leader who is ready to assist his people without knowing them.
Make no mistake, Buni’s generousity is the reason God continue to elevate him politically as the cash doled out are legitimately earned. The governor’s generousity and kindness are good virtues for others to emulate.
Buni, even before he becomes governor, has been known for his wonderful acts of giving and caring, and touching so many lives, and doing it without fanfare. For Buni, a generous politician has turn out to be a good leader.
Some people will give you fibs, just because they want to hoodwink you, and get your votes. They will announce that they’ve done something for you, even when truly they cannot fulfill their promises. But not Buni. Nothing for him is a matter of life and death. Generousity is the best thing in a man’s keeping. Make yourself a generous man, and there is one stingy less in the world. That is why we love the man.
Buni is a good giver, and turns out to be a governor who is more in love with the Talakawa, the down-trodden masses and the welfare of the people.
I will never forget a promise Buni made to the good people of Yobe at a campaign rally in 2019. “We’ll better the lives of our people in whatever way we can, we’ll not relent. We’ll fulfill our campaign promises.” That’s the generous man, who would stop at nothing to make sure that the people of Yobe are happy and fulfill. That is why we love him.
