Women PCRC Take Campaign Against Political Violence, Thuggery to Wives of Politicians, Others

The Women Subcommittee of the Borno state Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), vowed to take campaign against political violence and thuggery to wives of politicians to press on their husbands to eschew violence.
The group in strong terms condemned all attitudes, especially the increasing political violence that will hinder the relative peace enjoyed in the state.
Briefing journalists at a Press Conference held at the NUJ Press centre on Friday, the Borno state Coordinator of the women subcommittee PCRC Hajiya Kaltume Jafaru vowed to take campaign against political violence and thuggery to wives of politicians and others stakeholders in peace building in the state.
“We condemn in strongest terms all attitudes that will hinder the relative peace that is being enjoyed in the state. We call for maturity, responsibility patriotism and a sense of
wellbeing amongst citizens of Borno state., Jafaru stressed.
She said very soon the committee will take the campaign of peace to the wives of politicians to press on their husbands yo eschew political violence and thuggery.
The coordinator said the PCRC Women Committee is a nongovernmental, non-religious and non-profit Making body., which membership drawn from different organization that Consists of Communities and many other key agencies that Come together in Partnership to provide the needed local security and safety issues that affects their various communities with a view of solving them.
“Borno state belongs to all of us, let me quote Major Gen. Muhammadu
Buhari in 1984,”This generation Of Nigerians and indeed future
generations have no other country but Nigeria, we must remain here and
salvage it together”, Hajiya Jafaru added.
The PCRC said” in view of the strategic roles women play in peace building, more,especially the vantage position and experience of women and youths in
public engagements, enlightenment, sensitisation and awareness campaigns to prevent negativities of youths exuberance, crime prevention, drug abuse, hooliganism, vandalism and thuggery.”
‘She said we all know that the
northeast, Borno state inclusive has been the epicentre of insurgency
accounting for displacement of persons, lost of lives and property.
consequently, concerted efforts are being made by local and International NGOs ,Governments at all levels, the security agencies, well meaning individuals,Philanthropists as well as religious organizations to rebuild confidence and restore lost hope amongst the people. Therefore, as mothers we will do everything possible to ensure relative peace is sustain in the state.”
The PCRC further explained that there is no Police Force in the world that can succeed without the support, cooperation and assistance from the public it serves, stressing that,
