Yobe Govt Sets Aside N40b For Construction of Roads Across The State

Yobe state government is to expend over N40b for the construction of 103km of roads across the state.
Engr. Umar Wakil Umar, the state commissioner for Works, disclosed this in Damaturu today after signing the Bukarti-Toshia 18km and Gashua-Dumburi-Masaba 25.5km roads.
The commissioner said contract for the construction of the 22.5km Fika-Maluri, 18km jajimaji-karasuwa and Nguru-Karasuwa Galu roads are to be awarded in the next few days.
Engr. Umar said government would also construct 10km township road in Damaturu with a corresponding 20km, 4.6km with a 9.2km drainage in Potiskum, 3.4 km in Gashua, 3.4km in Nguru and 4.6km in Nguru.
Meanwhile, the 16km Dawasa-Kukuri-Chukuriwa road would be constructed through direct labour.
The commissioner said all roads washed away by the floods last year would be reconstructed under the programme.
Similarly, the 45km Bayamari-Yunusari and the 32km Geidam-Bukarti roads have been awarded for construction.
According to the commissioner, the Buni administration is constructing roads in areas with difficult terrain to open up more communities for socio-economic advancement.
